Those rrunning PT Digidesign 002 setups..

Yo Aaron would you say the 003 is worth the extra money over the 002? and what do you think of using the 002r with a saffire pro running as an adat pre?

cause the 002 preamps sound shite ;)

I like cubase4 alot, the studio eq is great, I use the multiband comp quite often as well as plugin-drag'n'drop, sidechaining and free routing. all that were things I missed with sx3

What is your main interface/board/input?

I haven't bumped up to 4 yet because of all the issues I've heard with it. Maybe that will change with time.

Necromancer, cheers for the tips :kickass: ive been spending all day mixing that Unrest tune, getting to grips with nuendo, im starting to really like it. And it seems to be running pretty stable with all them 24 tracks and various plugins etc going on, if it continues to impress me, then i may just get a control surface and use Nuendo and me MOTU. :headbang:

It's odd that the Direct monitor button helped considering that mainly for tracking. Who knows but I'm glad things are working out.

I love my MOTU I just want to get it BLA modified.

What control surface are you looking at?

bla modified? i think that nuendo is running well could be due to the fact that i just did a reformat on my pc, so that could be aiding things with it, im still gnna try it with previous work and see how things go. if i dont get protools, or even if i did in rack the digi 002 rack, probably something like a mackie universal control pro, just for the sake of me being a nob and hating using my mouse for levels/pans and eqs!! plus its the only price range i can consider. its either (if nuendo works out ok) a mackie control pro (meaning i can later upgrade to protools) or get the protools rack, not buying the mackie

Google Black Lion Audio.

Anyways, yeah, if you are real serious I'd suggest reformatting the computer and try not to install any junk ware besides your audio apps and such.

Right now I have a behringer BCR200 that is a decent control surface. It does all that but I still use my mouse more.

yer i was looking at something like the behringer, whats it like, is it motorised faders? and the rotory dials how are they? i just reformatted my comp yesterday, when i posted this thread so its all fresh!

That's odd you needed to defrag then. At least it works. :headbang:

Oh, you have your sample rate at 2048 right?

There's two different models, the BCF and BCR2000. BCR is rotorized and the BCF is motorized. The rotary is nice, you can assign them via MIDI to literally anything. Sometimes a pain though, something like a nice mackie control would be much better.

righty, im running nuendo for recording, this is where i need the nelp, how can i get my monitoring latency down? i did what necro said and enable direct monitor function, but its still well out. is there anything else i can do?

As your using this for mixing I dont think the fault is with the MOTU hardware. Its more likely your PC or software setup. I was having a similar problem recently mixing a 70 track plus project in Logic but I increased the softwares buffer size and it sorted it all out. Do you have a way of doing similar in Nuendo?

i can change the buffer size of the motu asio from 4098 to 8000 odd, but there was no difference. The computer should be able to handle very low, or no latency issues, especially if its only one track im recording, with nothing else in the project, or plugins.

Ah I thought you said this was a problem on mixdown. In that case lower the buffer size in Nuendo (if you can) to decrease latency when tracking and then when you come to mix increase the buffer before adding plugins and other processor intensive things.

Like I said it sounds more like a problem with system/software than the interface.

In the past Ive has a MOTU 2408, 828, Ultralite and 24i/o and the direct monitoring has never let me down like this yet.
