Thoughts on R.E.M

Automatic for the People is like, my favorite album ever. "Sweetness Follows"...what a song. Murmur is also near perfect. Anyway, REM have their fair share of duds but overall I find them to be surprisingly underrated and misunderstood.

I agree with whoever above said people need to listen to the right songs. "Stand" is an embarassment to humanity..and it's also one of their major hits.

well, I am not quite sure what Don was expecting, saying that REM is "underrated". One has to do some sissy hip-hop or celine dion music to be appreciated by the majority nowadays. In me opinion REM got what it could get in means of popularity, 'cos quality music is *not* what the MTV youth wants.

When asked, Michael Stipe, aka "the bald guy" admits that they are a pop band, and they are doing it for the money, which shows how sincere and "natural" they are (unlike most of the bands, including rock and metal..)

well im quite sure they are underrated here. the only song they are famous for is losing my religion...like status quo is for "in the army now" or leonard cohen is for "dance me to the end of love." it's so sad to see these amazing artists' other material disregarded by the ...by the...BLACK-HEARTED! lol
