THRESHOLD

OUTSTANDING performance. All the guys are truly a master of their craft! Great musicians. Couldn't wait to see them and enjoyed the song selection. Glad to have been able to chat with Damian for a bit as well. Hope he and the guys can work something out where he can continue with Threshold and Headspace.

I only really know the songs from the latest record, but I thought Damian did a decent job. If you haven't read the interview with the keyboard player (Richard West?) in the program or online, he talks a bit about Damian coming back and the differences between the two vocalists. Seems that the circumstances are much better now than in the past so who knows what the future will bring? Not being so familiar with them, it seemed to be a tough spot between Firewind and Primal Fear being so powerful, but they were a great change of pace.

I hope not personally, I dont like Damian's voice on CD but he is a stellar stage preformer

...i loved threshold...dead reckoning has been in my rav's cd player for months...much to the chagrin of king lek who said i needed to listen to the other bands...lol...ok...so i also listened to primal fear and vanden plas.......there were others??...

They were awesome!! Damien did great!
Although I would have rather heard In Light and Space and This is your Life over Sanity's End...
Oh and about 3 more hours would have been nice :)

Dude I would have LOVED to hear Light and Space........

unbelievable!

I enjoyed their set quite a bit. I thought they did a very good job. Damian filled in well for Mac. I thought it was great when he went into the crowd. I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, but what was the deal with Richard West? He was practically off the stage. Was he mad about something? Shy? Keyboards too heavy to move more on to the stage? It just threw me off throughout the whole set that one of main guys from Threshold was not being seen. And then after the set, I didn't see him wave to the crowd or anything. I still enjoyed their set a lot, but that threw me for a loop.

I believe he had been having keyboard problems, was probably stressed about them going on late, and he had something fly into his eye earlier in the day causing him to miss the Street Team luncheon

I really just think he wasn't having a good day

It's funny, when I was deciding whether to buy tickets this year, I was thinking "Threshold -- I liked em when Damien was in the band but they're still OK so I'll check em out"... man what an awesome surprise that was when he walked out! I know there are a lot of Mac fans here but I gotta say I hope Damien stays with them! (Anybody know any inside scoops on this whole thing?)

Amazing Amazing Amazing. I admit that I was skeptical about not seeing Mac up there (I wasn't too familiar with Damian Wilson himself), but the guy was almost perfect. What a great guy and a great performance!! One of my favorites of the entire weekend!!!

WOW you didn't know about that?

I first listened to Critical Mass in the summer of 2004 and was hooked. I am only familiar with Mac as the lead because I have not gone back too far on the albums (I tend to stick with the ones I am familiar with at the moment). But Threshold was the only reason I really wanted to be at PP VIII. I just stood there in awe of seeing them live and I so wanted to hear more but the time just flew by too quickly.
We (Phil, my husband, David, my 13 year old son and myself) will be back next year hoping that Threshold will be in the showcase and because we met so many great people to hang out with. I have to admit this is more my husband's thing than for me but I had a great time.
Thanks Threshold and the Street Team members!

Now if we could only tie in Jimmy Buffett I would be so very happy :headbang:

Thanks for the info Burke. Didn't realize all the bad stuff that happened to him besides Damian being late. Surprised some people didn't realize that Mac was not going to sing for him. Reading the interview in the program with Richard West, I don't see Mac coming back to Threshold.

Went for 2 reasons, Threshold and Vanden Plas. Obviously, the VP situation didn't work itself out, but Threshold's set was pretty damn special.

I liked Damian's voice but I'd be kidding you if I didn't say I missed Mac. That said, the only other issue I had was a little too much dead time between songs. Thought that might be because of the lack of a lot of shows with Damian since he rejoined but overall pretty damn cool.

And as for his escapades in the All-Star Jam, I had absolutely no problem with it and I've been pretty surprised with the reactions on the forum to that performance.

A Happy Pup.

THRESHOLD was far and away my favorite band of Saturday. Amazing performance by a band that I didn't really know what to expect since I was only familiar with their latest CD, Dead Reckoning (which is a friggin masterpiece and if you don't have it, you are missing out!).

The minute they came out and played SLIPSTREAM, I was hooked. From there, it just got better and better. The drummer was amazing and the bassist looked like he was having just an awesome time playing up there.

I liked them so much that I later went to the dealer's room and bought their entire back catalog. I am a THRESHOLD fan for life. Thanks to Glenn & whomever sponsored this amazing band at PP8!

I'm a PILOT IN THE SKY OF DREAMS!

I'm surprised Nathan is the first one to mention how awesome Threshold's drummer, Johanne James was!:kickass: Not only was he a damn good drummer, but he had a lot of style and flash the way he was always twirling his sticks. He was fun to watch.

As for the Mac vs Damien debate, I got into Threshold with Subsurface, Hypothetical and the new album, so I never heard Damien's stuff (though I was familliar with his voice from Star One). I'd be lieing if I said I didn't miss hearing Mac, but I thought Damien has a wonderful voice, did a great job on some of my favorite Mac songs ("Pressure," "Mission Profile" and "Slipstream") and was a fantastic frontman. He owned the stage and erased any doubts I had. Threshold was one of my favorites.

Threshold's set was one of the highlights of the weekend for me. They were one of the bands I was looking forward to seeing the most (next to Primal Fear and Pagan's Mind).
I have to admit I was skeptical before the show if I was going to like Damian's vocals as much as Mac's (on the CDs he's OK, but I prefered Mac's voice), but Damian totally put all doubt out of my mind within the first two minutes he was on stage. He kept the crowd engaged and totally pulled off plenty of Mac-era songs. (I was actually a little surprised that they seemed to play more from the Mac-era than the Damian-era of Threshold, but all good song choices.)
It was an awesome performance by the entire band! I too found Johan to be one of the most entertaining drummers of the weekend, but the whole band was just fabulous! Hope to see these guys headlining a future ProgPower! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
