The truth is that the faster an event sells, the more willing I am to either take some chances or drop a bit more coin where necessary when booking bands for next year.

Nice. I would guess it'll be fairly steady this month but will have another surge when the kickoff tickets go on sale.

I doubt it. I tend to only really pay attention to first week sales and then get updates every couple of weeks after that because I hate being a pain in the ass to the venue.
