The Mystery Band Update!

Appreciate your attempt to try for something extra special... not to worry though... stage is set to grab a band that you know will come and should be available, affordable and appreciated by nearly everyone... CIRCUS MAXIMUS... make it happen my good man.

Dang, Glenn, thanks for trying! Now we'll all stay tuned for Mystery BandWatch, Part II. :D

Won't bother posting a list of bands that I'd like to see because most of them would be a bit off-road for the festival and I think you're looking for someone who's right on Main Street...and this is a Good Thing in view of the monies committed.

Glenn, How about throwing one at the Chicago Mafia........Manilla Road! Good for a lower spot, will probably come cheap, and you might actually get Jasonic to the festival.:lol::lol:

Wait, is this something we really WANT?! :heh:  :heh:

Sorry it didn't work out for you Glenn. That ST:TNG picture made me LOL this morning.

Anyhow, a number of people suggested some really good bands, so I won't bother clogging up the thread. But if you get a good middle of the roster type of band, that would be really cool.

Glenn, I and I'm sure the rest of the forum truly appreciate your efforts in trying to add something special to the show. Sucks that it didn't come through as hoped. But, I'm sure you'll come up with something else. Who that might be? I wouldn't venture to guess. Just know I got faith in ya. Also, I don't want or need my donation back as I know you will still put it to good use. I didn't base my decision to donate on a "unique performance". Just the desire to help. Whatever the case, go for it brother!

Wow, it doesn't take much to take any thread from the original topic and turn it into a "post your wishlist of bands".

<Poster> - "I had turkey for lunch"
<Response> - "Turkey is awesome. For tomorrow's lunch, please hire Falconer"

Thanks for trying, Glenn. I'm leaving my small donation with you and trusting that you'll figure something out.

Steve in Philly

P.S. - Now that we've established that you're going after a lower echelon band just for us, I assume you are bringing in one or more of the following: Avantasia. Ayreon. Savatage reunion.

Greatest post in the history of this forum.

So something that is probably in the realm of possibilities based on cost.
Stolen Babies

Probably not something most are going to care for (and shame on them) but they're finally working on a new album and are from the US so shouldn't be that expensive. Would fit in with Arcturus's stage show.

ITS ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been what, 5 years since their 1st album?

Yep, they released the last one in 2006. I think some of the members are involved in other bands that take precedence which kind of sucks. I saw them on the tour with Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, and In This Moment. ITM has released 2 albums since that tour.

Do you know what other bands the SB members are in? I'd like to check them out!

You're right, ITM has released 2 albums since that tour...2 very bad albums IMO...

I saw that same tour @ Jaxx in VA. I went to see Stolen Babies & Within Temptation, and, although they only got a 4 song (15 minute) set, Stolen Babies stole the show! Most people there didn't know who they were, and EVERYONE was raving about them after their set. I met the singer & bassist & they were very cool, down to earth people!

Their drummer, Gil Sharone, did one of the Dillinger Escape Plan albums and toured with them for a few years but he left in 2009 to focus on SB and his own solo project. He's done a lot of work with other bands and filling in for drummers in the last 4 years though.

Double epic facepalm....

I tried. I fucking tried. I even kicked in additional money out of my own pocket above the original offer to get it done. I was led to believe there was a legitimate chance to make it happen. Nope. It turns out that it could have taken months to get a confirmation and the chances of that were 50/50. Those are not my kind of odds regardless of who you are.

*sigh*

Otherwise, I promise you a kick-ass band. Trust me.

Damnit. Glenn couldn't get Compleat for a Double-rainbow worthy trip to Hoogie Boogie Land.

All hope is now lost :bah:

Please take further discussion of SB to another thread. I don't mind the occassional post, but thread hijacking is reserved for the Chicago Posse.

Word.
And none of us have even posted in this thread :)

Manilla Road would indeed bring in a completely different crowd.
Interest in this cult band grows every year and they play so few US shows.

Same would go for Omen.

One really hot band right now who has yet to play the states is GHOST, though I am not sure if that would appeal in mass to the forum regulars.
