Programming and editing are the most time-consuming things ime. I hate editing the most, and don't really fuck with it on guitars or bass all that much...which you know if you can play well enough is a good thing. I try...
Vocals and drums though, especially when I track someone else doing vocals....fuuuuuuuu
another thing that i hate most.....after taking a Guitar take or bass take they stare at me... like i should be the one telling them is it tight or not... like come on man this is your fucking song listen to it... if u find anywhere not tight tell me give that take again..lastly i was so pissed so fucking pissed that i copy paste all the parts of the song... i told them to come at 10.00 in the morning they came at 9.00 ruining my sleep.. couldn't even have breakfast,lunch or any other shit... i had to take dinner direct at 11.00 night..
they are my close friends that's why could tell anything :|

That's the line between engineering and producing, and why even though I try to involve myself as little as possible I advertise my service as the latter rather than the former.
10 hours is not bad for a song. most studios require 1-3 days per song. because it normally takes at least a day for a band that knows exactly what they want and how they need to perform it. but that being said programming shouldnt take too long. it took me an hour and a half to get a simple-ish song done today on drums and i never program but i edit all my drums to the grid(which will take 1-3 hours per song normally anyway). you should make sure you know your timings though(and get to where you can tell bands timings because they dont know what they are playing half of the time) such as if its triplets or straight or whatever. thats what will mess up most people starting out.
yes if there were any triplets then that would make them attach to some off time note and also if it was performed live in any way it could easily be more than a 32nd note off
