Grave with a view
Reasons for:
  • None of the founding members are left in the band
  • The music has changed too much since Orchid to justify retention
  • A mix-up might stir the band's creative juices
Reasons against:
  • Mike has always been the Übermensch of Opeth, and as long as he is there, the name stays
  • Opeth has built a worldwide reputation, and it would be silly to lose all that marketing potential
  • The name is too good and its loss would represent an incalculable casualty to the metal scene

Nah, people change all throughout their lives but many opt not to change their name. I think it's much more satisfying to watch the evolution of a band rather than have them drop their name anyway.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOpeth

Totally unneccesary (see: Death, ND), although I can see where the poster is coming from. Sort of.
