It's a neat idea, but the thing that makes the European fests rule are the lineups...and while this fest DOES have some killer headliners (relative term for this fest), the rest of the pack don't necessarily REQUIRE anyone to be there.

Even at a Wacken Open Air or Bang Your Head! fest, the lineups are pretty solid throughout, not 6 or 7 awesome bands playing with 30-40 unknowns.

Many of those unkowns still have the potential of dropping out due to unforeseen events...

Yeah!! Killer classic bands from the real age of metal. THIS is my kind of festival!! The best part is that its only 2 hours away!!! You can bet your ass I will be there. Any detractors ought to think twice about dogging this type of fest - we need all the help we can get in these United States. Wacken wasn't built in a year, so why the negative comments about the talent? It's still light years ahead of Ozzfest and Gigancrap, that's for sure!! Fuck yeah, I am fired up for this fest!

See ya there!

Ok, first off - for all of our supporters that have spoken favorably of us or at least asked all the naysayers on this board to give us the benefit of a doubt until more information was made public, we say THANK YOU!

Now, for all you negative naysayers that have been slamming this event left and right without knowing much of the facts, details or NOT EVEN HAVING HEARD OF THE EVENT - step back. I will defend to the death your rights to your opinions, but it's time to get more informed.

DETAILS:

TMT METALFEST 2008

JULY 18th - 20th 2008.

SKYVIEW DRAGSTRIP in TIOGA CENTER, NY (East of Elmira, West Of Binghamton).

Tickets are $25 in advance. THAT ONE TICKET GETS YOU ADMISSION FOR ALL THREE DAYS.

Tickets are $35 at the gate the day of the show.

Camping and Hotels are available nearby.

IHRA Racing events will also be held at the racetrack those days. ON THE OTHER END OF THE TRACK, WELL AWAY FROM OUR 2 STAGES...OVER 500 ACRES OF PROPERTY THERE

Yes, we do honestly hope to get 10 - 25,000 over the course of three days.

Yes, the lineup does not have super mega A list currently hot bands. It's our first festival, BACK OFF. Few if an of the big European Open Airs had stellar lineups right from the start.

There are a lot of currently relevant bands playing. We are trying to make a cool collective atmosphere to hang out in, make new friends and get to see some bands you would NOT normally see anywhere else, or for such a reasonable ticket price.

IT GOES FOR 3 DAYS. EVERYONE WILL GET DECENT SET TIMES. NOT 20 MINUTES!

There are many unsigned bands we have gathered from around NYS and around the country as well as overseas.

There are bands coming from England, Singapore, Israel and Japan.

Now now now I'm sure you're referring to me with that huge post but I did not imply that you would run a poor operation. What I said was that I doubt (and still do) that this thing will draw the numbers you anticipate. Can I be wrong? Hell yes. Do I think you can get 5-25,000 people to Nowhere NY to a Flotsam show? Nah. 25,000 people don't even show up to see Judas Priest or Dream Theater headline (more like 10-15,000 and even those figures depend on the markets).

That's not a knock at your show though. I know that you gotta start somewhere and I would ABSOLUTELY love to have a real bonafide Wacken-type experience in the USA. All I'm saying is that it's gonna be REAAAAL tough for you to pull those numbers you're predicting with those bands.

I don't even think Wacken started getting 25,000+ people until years later.

Counting the same people more than once? Then ProgPower USA has the attendance of roughly 3600 (if you include Shane's PP Showcase). You can play with numbers to make anything look good. The government has been doing that for years!
