To all the guitarists in here...

A good amp? Depends on what sound you are going for and how much you have to spend.

For a decent amount of gain and good price hunt down one of the first Peavey 5150's , great amp, great gain. Lovely, really is :) And it's got a nice tight poweramp as well. All you need to add to this amp is a noise gate in the effects loop and you are sorted for anything (not necessary, but if you do, shazam! Tight as fuck baby!)

If you've got a bit more money, then it is worth looking into second hand Mesa Boogie stuff, in particular the triaxis and the like.

But if you end up deciding to go marshall, then my advice is only to touch the older models, ie, JCM800 and before. The 900 series was sterile, and has just put me off trying any of the new ones.

cob uses marshall jcms i think. but i think if you wanna emulate their tone, it's best to get either a laney vh100r or the combo the vc100 or vc50. you can also try the marshall tsl122. or even better. get a cabinet, prefrebly a 2x12 cab and get a rack system or a head. always helps.
