Favela of My Dismay
Hypothetical exercise (lets see what it all looks like). Which albums that were omitted belong in the tournament?

Nocternity-Harps of the Ancient Temples
Wampyrinacht, We Will Be Watching
Horrendous-The Chills
All of them Witches -Nothing as the Ideal (Ken's)
Murkrat-Drudging the Mire
Deceased-Ghostly White

(Oh I got plenty more, but shall chill out for a spell)

@Bloopy @CiG @~Neurotica @Doom @ET al.

Lets hear em.

The whole Christian thing is in Wytch Hazel's favor, especially against a band such as CDG.

Whats more metal than voting for Christians over cats trying to act pseudo-evil? (Better kill some queens, or burn a church, if ye want some hespect.) :heh:

One of Nad's mentions, also a thread somewhere. Definitely worthy of a listen and a potential contender. :headbang:

I hope extending to 128 albums will not result in the attrition of general interest in the whole affair ere long but since it seems to be the way forward, here are six more of the albums that made my decade:

Yellow Eyes - Rare Field Ceiling
Void of Silence - The Sky over
Barús - Drowned
Véhémence - Assiégé
Nasheim - Jord och Aska
Christicide - Upheaval of the Soul

i stand by my opinion that 128 is pushing it way too far. already i'm being asked to have an intelligent opinion about 64 albums of which i probably hate about 48. so i think maybe 128 will be more than i can chew and i'm going to pick or dismiss after half a listen tbh. that said, i'm not the boss of you and i'm not tryna stop anyone from following their dreams, so:

atlantean kodex - the white goddess
katla - allt þetta helvítis myrkur (2020? are we including 2020?)
iron maiden - the final frontier
agalloch - marrow of the spirit
alcest - spiritual instinct (better than the one currently in it)
morbus chron - sweven
altar of plagues - mammal
ne obliviscaris - portal of i
enforcer - diamonds
höstblod - mörkrets intåg
vetter - vetterkult
horrendous - ecdysis

i mean i can go on far into "kinda like it" territory but i thought having to pick 5 that were REALLY ACTUALLY WORTHY was about right

Might as well, who knows if we'll all be here come 2030 for the next SAGA.

Don't worry we'll take a long pause after the next 32 before ANY of these albums mentioned in this thread do battle. I dont want to get burned out either.

That Enforcer album is awesome, I've been listening to that again myself the last few months. I loved it when it first came out but kind of forgot about it. Better than anything else I've heard from them, or any of the other similar bands that popped up around that time.

yep, i agree

i think it had a great balance of nwobhm, speed metal and almost europe-style catchiness. one of few survivors of the retro-kool heavy metal trend of the early 10's that still stands the test of time for me.

the follow-ups are more like pure speed metal and are less interesting and well-written imo

for those who don't know what the fudge we're on about, grab a crappy beer and try this on for size:

speaking of early 10's heavy metal revival i also really like borrowed time

they're super unprofessional and sloppy but i can't help but love them because of the atmospheric sound, heartfelt singing and the super wordy lyrics

The whims and wiles of fools will sway
Your hapless vain, romantic swain
Pendulum prelude for sacrifice
With chariot and leaves in hair
Debaucherous intent to share
No laurel tree will clothe thee
On this night

and so on. can't be beat. feels super authentic.
