I'm shure there is more people than me out there who wonder how one can achieve a tone similar to the one on 10.000 days, that groovy "the pot" sound. Anyone? just made a cover of this song, to practice my mixing-skills, but i just can't seem to capture that tone!

Wal + top notch right hand technique are the core of the sound really.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm not a bassist, so my technique probably don't help me out much
But I'll try recording bass again, Focusing on getting the right attack on each note.. Anybody who knows what kind of an amp he uses though?

4 tube amps (same setting) stacked up with each a (4x6 inch) cab miced with Sm 57 (not the same angles) and a room mic of your choice. Still, this is only one part of the tone, as the bass, the paint on the bass, the strings, the player, the cables, the recording gear, the environement and so much more affects the sound you'll get.
You´re welcome, but it seems to me that you haven´t used it at all. Because if you had, you would know that there was a recent thread about it that even answered your question about which amp he used.

Btw, the tone in "the pot" is clearly notched somewhere, (around 700 hz, maybe lower) it actually helps in separating the highs from the lows and it makes the low-end sound even deeper.
