ToonTrack EZ Drummer

Yeah....I just got an email from them saying they will give me a discount because I have superior......it actualy looks really good for someone who does not have superior or who does not want to deal with the interface.....

Sounds like something I'd buy just to support ToonTrack. I really like their products, they really are innovating a lot of things involved with sample libraries, the multi-sampling to the humanizing features....rediculousness. I love it. I'll probably get it to run on my PowerBook G4 for little demo's and whatnot. :)

Well, if it's less memory intensive that DFH2 and Superior, then it would be a great little thing to have on my PowerBook. DFH2 alone bogs my G4 down pretty good, as I only have 768mb of RAM. I was at BestBuy last night looking at memory though. For a 1gb chip it's about $130, so I might grab one of those and toss it in here to replace the 256mb one I put in a long time ago. Would give me a total of 1.5gb of RAM on here, should handle DFH2 and DFHS a lot better. I can only run Cocktail from Superior on here right now, anything more than that kills this laptop. From the information on the site, it seems like EZD will be pretty easy-going on the RAM, seems very attractive to me. And the projected price seems very sexy as well. Just another notch in that bar that BFD won't be able to hurdle over. :)

TPC II ....I have no clue what that is and how it differs form the orignial version of TPC

Cool.... Looks a bit better than my DFH2, and a bit cheaper than Superior....

They are gonna make a ton of money off of this, what is it, $200 and then you have the expansions to buy for like $90?

What I think is funny, is that it's still probably going to end up being what BFD *should* have been, but better.....and still cheaper than BFD. I think the people at fxpansion are out of their minds for charging so much for something that isn't as elaborate as DFHS. I mean, holy fuck, they don't even have left and right hand hits. That's just lame. And they think they have some amazing product. If I wanted the same handed hits I could just use FruityLoops.

TPC is just a compression format that ToonTrack uses to quicken the load times and ease the pressure on your RAM and CPU when using their libraries. It's very cool and enables people to use RAM intensive kits on DAW's with low memory. Like DFHS, a kit can end up being 700 something MB alone just with the samples loaded, and if you only have 768mb of RAM to begin with (like me on my G4), then that's gonna kill your computer. With TPC that kit load can be cut nearly in half, which makes a world of a difference. TPCII is basically just an updated and tweaked version, the new one, that just improves on the original version. :)

The TPC works great. Many people even use the feature for their FINAL tracks (They do not bounce to disc from inside D.F.H.S.)
I've had 1000mb+ kits get cut down to 347mb - 432mb by using the TPC & 16bit features. A lot of guys don't realize that you can set your mic bleeds in the Main window.....have them 'OFF' in the construction window.... and when you USE D.F.H.S.'s offline bounce feature. Your mic bleeds WILL be on the bounced tracks! So basically when your programming, it'll sound really dry. But, once you bounce it and import the tracks the bleeds will be there.
EZ drummer? Sorry N.D.A. signed, can't say nothing. But...

GORILLA

^^^^ Exactly. TPC is just another innovative feature that ToonTrack has to offer over BFD. The list just keeps getting longer and longer :p.

That tells me nothing.....what is the diffrence between the two versions...

Yes, I quoted myself twice, because it's very clear the first time...I'm not sure how in the fuck you can't understand that, but hey, whatever. TPC and TPCII are the same fucking thing, it's just TPCII is the newest and updated version, now let's see....usually when something is VERSION 2 it's because it's the original, but improved. So...basically it's the same exact thing, but better. Now, if TPC has already been explained (nearly twice originally, now three times), TPC is just a compression format used by ToonTrack for their libraries so that you can use a 1,000MB (normally) kit and have it only actually take up 300-400MB of RAM, making your computer breathe easier. Ok, so that's three times explaining it. If you still don't understand what TPC is, or that TPCII is just the more recent version...I'm not quite sure if you'll ever get it. Most of the time when there is a second version of something, it's typically just a revision, basically things they (the developers) wish they had embedded the first time around. Usually software and things in the software are bare bones everything to be able to release it much sooner because of competition, marketing, distibution contracts, etc. So I'm guessing that when they first released TPC for DFHS in their update, there were a couple of small things here and there that they would have liked to have seen included but didn't have time. Now that they've had the time to put that stuff in, they have themselves a version 2.

i guess maybe he meant how does TPCII compress the kit's in comparison to the original TPC, and anyway what's got under your skirt dude? your boss beating been kicking your ass at video games again? :loco:

Hahaha.

Nothing really, it's just lately he's been posting crap like that. It seems very rude with the "..." all the time. Makes me think of like, a laziness and rudeness in his replies. Probably just me being overdramatic about it but whatever, it still irks me.

They compress the same exact way, I'm assuming that the version two just preserves the quality a little better and does some other things involving quality over the original version. They both compress (correctly) to 16-bit format in order to kill some of the file size, and kill off some of the RAM usage. Some people on the ToonTrack forums were wondering if on bounce it converts back to 32 or 24 bit, but it doesn't. However, ToonTrack reps have explained that the samples are correctly converted to 16-bit so as to retain the best quality possible and still compress the shit out of it. So basically hardcore audio purists will notice a very slight difference in quality, but anyone else will be like "huh, it sounds the same". If this isn't enough, then I think chad should go to the ToonTrack site/forum and look around for himself.

Hahaha.....wtf...

You by all means over thought my post.....

I seriously ment nothing by it...

There is not reason for me to waste my time or your time being rude on internet forums...

It was a serious question......

And if you want to nit pick....no you did not answer my question.....even with this latest post....but I do appreciate the effort....
