Top 10 for 2006

the only 4 i can think of (worth mentiong) so far are

Luca Turilli- Infinite Wonders of Creation
Iron Maiden- A Matter Of Life And Death
Pyramaze- Legends Of The Bone Carver

Nocturnal Rites- Grand Illusion. if you count this, cos it came out 2006 in US.

i love my blind guardian...but im not sure that it will earn a spot on my top 10 sadly. these are the only 4 that will be there for sure come january.

I want to post bad on this one, but it would come out seemingly prejeduce
since most of what I'm listening too these days are the bands that I signed to Nightmare, I've been signing the stuff I really enjoy ; )
There are a few exceptions to that though, I love PAGANS MIND, maybe their next one I'll get them ; )

Then do a 'Top 10 albums not on my label'. That is.. if you can =)

...that I posted to my last.fm journal about two weeks ago:

10. Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver
9. Jorn - The Duke
8. Evergrey - Monday Morning Apocalypse
7. Lordi - The Arockalypse
6. Vanden Plas - Christ 0
5. OSI - Free
4. Adagio - Dominate
3. Venturia - The New Kingdom
2. BloodBound - Nosferatu
1. Rage - Speak of the Dead

I really like the 1-6. 7-10 are also good, but just not THAT good.

Still a long wat to go and i have some cds that i haven't let sink in yet
but i am pretty sure these are gonna be in the top 10.

Mercenary-The Hours that Remain
Scar Symmetry-Pitch Black Progress
Into Eternity-TSOA
Devin Townsend-Synchestra
Beyond Twilight-FLATAOM
Toto-Falling In Between

1. Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver
2. Hank Williams III - Straight to Hell
3. Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel
4. Evergrey - Monday Morning Apocalypse
5. Vanden Plas - Christ O
6. Joe Satriani - Super Colossal
7. Mercenary - The Hours That Remain
8. Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life and Death
9. Sonata Arctica - For the Sake of Revenge
10. Dream Evil - United

As of right now, I only have a top 8:

1. Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth
2. Pyramaze - Legend of the Bone Carver
3. Iron Maiden - A Matter of Life & Death
4. Metal Church - A Light in the Dark
5. Attacker - The Unknown
6. Hammers of Misfortune - The Locust Years
7. Beyond Fear - s/t
8. Temple of Blood - Prepare for the Judgment of Mankind

However, I am still waiting to hear new albums from:

Circle II Circle
Jon Oliva's Pain
Angra
Hammerfall

I guess I will also list my disappointments for 2006 as well:

1. Seven Witches - Amped (awful, just awful and I really dig this band)

2. Edguy - Rocket Ride (I am not a fan of the new goofy rock style)

3. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime Pt. II (not a big disappointment because I was not expecting it to be great like the first one but still...I was expecting better than this)

Wish more people knew about this disc!
You got that right!!!! It's just plain good time fun and excellent musicians that are having fun.:headbang:

Mine is still a work in progress, but I've been keeping track closely and adjusting as needed. For me it's all about stickiness and longevity, so like Zod, my final list won't be out until January or February to give the late year releases a fair shot.

So, not in exact order, but pretty close as things stand now:

Jon Oliva
Devin Townsend
Vanden Plas
Iron Maiden
Benedictum
Wolf
Rage
Edguy
Queensryche
Wuthering Heights

I can't think of anything else that is going to be released from my top-teir bands, so anything added from here will be a surprise.

Of course since Wolf, Hammerfall, Falconer, Tyr, Wuthering Heights, Solitude Aeturnus, Angra, Riot, Dream Evil, Tarot and maybe Thunderstorm and Memory Garden will also release in 2006 I still have a lot to shuffle befor the year is over.

It's a little more power metal, and a little less folk, which is the wrong direction for me. That said, the songwriting quality is right up there with the heavier parts of Far From The Madding Crowd. Nils sounds more like he does on Astral Doors because of the heavier overall feel of the album.
