Top 5 Drummers: your all-time list

Stratovarious' drummer blows. He plays the same beat over and over.... even moreso than Lars Ulrich or Phil Rudd practically.

My top 5:
Terry Bozzio (the best drummer ever by a fucking mile)
Virgil Donati
Mike Mangini
Jason Rullo
Dave Weckl

dont know about a top 5 but these guys would be ones id consider,
Vinnie Paul
Jason Rullo
Joey Jordson
John Tempesta
dude from Halford
i thought about Lars Ulrich...:erk:.but i dont think so
there are others that i cant think of.....but thats some for now

Yeah, the guy from slipknot (Jordisen) is actually ...good, something very rarely found in Slipknot. The guy from Halford is Bob Jazombek, Ron Jazombeks little bro. I don't know much about him, but Ron is one of the most underrated shredders in the 80's. He wasn't as big as MacAlpine, Moore, Trafolla,Becker ect... This is because he actually did something different to them. It wasn't neo-classical shrapnell shred, so he didn't get the recognition. He was in the most technical band out there (until Spiral Architect came) "Watchtower"

wich drummer from death?? they're all great, but i'd stay with Christy, the sound of perseverance is my death's favorite album, that's a drummer

Virgil Donati. I must say his performances blew me away.

He was here yesterday for a drum clinic, and I definitely am thankful of the time I spent there. :D I learned a lot of things from the clinic.

ProgMetalFan: Thanks dude.

Hmm..as far as Joey Jordison is concerned, I have a lot of respect for him. After all, upon hearing Slipknot's "Iowa" not a few months ago, I almost made the mistake of saying they've taken on a death metal angle. I was fooled by the drums long enough to have almost come to that conclusion.

Now that we're on the topic of drummers that a re more known to people who're not into metal: here's my list:

Danny Carey
Michael McDonough(Spug from Mudvayne)
Joey Jordison

(in no particular order)

Andreas Lill (Vanden Plas)
Hellhammer (Arcturus, Winds, Mayhem, and so on)
Patrick Carlsson (Evergrey)
Jason Rullo (Symphony X)
Thomas Lejon (Andromeda)

Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth)
He was awesome on the sound of perseverance. Since iced earth doesn't allow him to do as much, he wasn't as crazy there, but still good times.

Asgeir Mickelson (Borknagar, Vintersorg, Lunaris)
He's awesome with vintersorg and borknagar, though i don't like spiral architect because it's just like he is bashing on shit.

Nick Barker (Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child)
Just Fuckin awesome. Nuff said.

Jason Rullo (Symphony X)
See above

Patrick Carlsson (Ex-Evergrey)
Caught one of his drumsticks at Wacken. Yeah.

In no particular order...

David Silveria from Korn. There are probably few Korn fans here... but this guy can drum, and he has a double kick and DOESN'T do the straight 16ths thing EVER. That's different :).
Bonham - He's my favorite part of the new Led Zep DVD... it's unbelievable what he can do on a single kick!
Rullo
The Children of Bodom guy, forget his name... Kissing the Shadows, the intro is just great.
Mike Portnoy

the strato drummer does suck

i am going to keep this to metal

richard christy
mike portnoy
Thomen Stauch (storch?) from blind guardian
van williams
whoever plays drums in NILE

CARCASS' drummer was amazing too
