Greetings, fellow doomsters. I'm here to present you TOPHETH.
According to some 16th century demonologists, Moloch's power is stronger in December...
December 2009 marks the birth of experimental/ambient/drone band "TOPHETH", directly inspired by bands like Earth, Black Sabbath and Amebix and topics of human sacrifice and ancient mythology.
Topheth (Hebrew: תופת ha-tōpheth; Greek: Ταφεθ; Latin: Topheth) is believed to be a location in Jerusalem, in the Valley of Hinnom, where the Canaanites sacrificed children to the god Moloch by burning them alive. After the practice of child sacrifice was outlawed by King Josiah, the valley became a refuse site where animal carcasses, waste and the bodies of criminals were dumped, with fires permanently burning to keep disease at bay. Topheth became a synonym for hell.
This band has no religious connotations. Also, any historical facts you may find false should not be considered worth reporting to me.
All releases are offered as name-your-price (meaning there's no minimum, you can enter zero for free download!) and low-priced downloads in any audio format you like, from .FLAC to mp3 on TOPHETH's Bandcamp profile: http://topheth.bandcamp.com/
Of course, any bands/projects around interested for split releases should also write. Beware I have other bands I'm working on, so please, don't rush anything.
