Totally underrated guitarists

I suppose thats true, especially considering how aggressive their music is, but I have a TON of Slayer bootlegs and their playing is always spot on, the only mistakes are when Tom sings the wrong verse in a song, which is always good for a laugh. Id say 90 percent of the time whenever Kerry and Jeff are brought up whenever someone is talking about guitar playing, its to say that they dont like their soloing.

Also, in my opinion anyway, there are TONS of thrash, speed, death & black metal bands whose guitarists are just as good or better than Slayer's at playing that style, and Slayer get 10x more recognition than any of them.
 Glam bands with a double bass dont count as death metal Troops ;)

Yes on both counts.

Slayer are good, but there is so many better guitarists in the world of EXTREME METAL.

specially Somnium, pity he's dead, he probably still plays awesome leads from the grave.

I think Vivian Campbell is pretty underated. He is well respected by fans, but isn't really recognised as one of the best guitarists of the 80s, which he is.

I think the duel lead guitar work from KK Downing and Glenn Tipton is rather underated, the guitar work on Painkiller is fucking incredibly awesome. Some of the best tag team guitar I have ever heard.

I like Slayer, I think they are overated, but I like them. I am not sure what I think about the playing though, it is not incredibly awesome, but it is far from shit, and I don't really hear it getting heaps of praise, so I don't suppose it is overated as such. I think Jon Schaffer's guitar work is much more awesome though. I think Jon is kinda underated in a way such that people think he is just playing really simple stuff very fast. Yes, that is the case with alot of the riffs, but he does play some other more complex stuff as well, which is also played at 100 miles an hour, and slow as well. He is a great guitarist and songwriter.
