WHO IS THE GREATEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF METAL?

Can be andy past, present and of any sub genre of Metal.

For me - its one band alone that stands head and shoulders above all other bands. The first band that got me into Metal.

Yer look Thrax to me are my absolute favourite and I do consider them one of the greatest but Maiden for me just take it to another level. What Anthrax did for today's metal bands Maiden did for Thrax and others.

my first intro to metal was anthrax so they will always hold a special value,i was never introducd to sabbath or maiden early on,i found out about sabbath thru ozzy solo stuff as he played healthy amount of sabbath live,as far as maiden goes i like a few of there songs.

Yes...and no. My only hesitation would be drawing the line between hard rock and heavy metal. If we can agree that AC/DC is heavy metal, then my vote goes to them.
