TOUGHEST QUESTION EVER ON THIS FORUM

Iron Maiden all the way for me. A lot of people say they were at the forefront of the NWOBHM but they just destroyed those other bands. Every player in the band is top notch, they stood the test of time and, they still put out decent stuff. to me "Brave New World" and, Dickinson's "Tyranny of Souls" are albums worthy to stand next to anything they put out prior.

Classic era: Sabbath
More Modern era: Carcass (grindcore/ gore grind / pure death metal / melodic death/ death n' roll - pioneers of each genre)

Sabbath all the way. Songs like War Pigs, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Paranoid set the standard that metal bands are still trying to live up to.

Honourable mentions go to Judas Priest, Metallica (their new stuff leaves a lot to be desired, but their albums from the 1980s are fantastic), and Iron Maiden.
Now THAT is a good answer!!!::worship:
