Having never seen Opeth live, and won't be able until they come to Scotland.......please:worship: , I wondered if keyboards have been incorporated into their earlier stuff, still life and pre.. and if so, does it sound better or worse than origionally intended. Thoughts, if any please!
If this has been asked before, please be gentle with me, I am just off my night shift and fragile :notworthy

I really noticed the keyboards in the leper affinity, they accentuated some parts very nicely

To my mind keyboards would do exactly as you say, but I ask because 'still life' does appear to a favorite with this forum and wonedered if the addition of keyboards was well accepted for those tracks.

anyone who feels the added tasteful textures brought to the classic opeth songs with keyboards is a bad thing...really needs to get their head examined and probably check their bags at the gate for the retarded fanboy express. all aboard.

I don't think anyone had told Per yet, but in concert they turn his monitors off. He's just their because Mikael thinks keyboards will make them look better on MTV, which is really where he wants to succeed. On the next album, Per will be playing a grand piano, and Mikael will stand on top of the piano and wail through 2 minute whiny solos. Mendez will dye his hair blond, get a nose ring and start a vicious cocaine habit, which will cause his head to bob erratically when he attempts to headbang. Peter will wear sunglasses on stage and lots of bandanas and smoke like a chimney. Finally, Lopez (or Axenrot) will come out of the closet and be the first heavy metal drummer / raging inferno of homosexuality.

Why is it I liked GnR so much when I was younger? I'm so glad I've reached the age of enlightenment.

Sorry for the rant. I feel better now.

the keyboard arangement in the section before "the rain was waving goodbye" in april ethereal sounded somewhat cheesy, and too quiet. they replaced the guitar octave melody with the keyboards while mike and peter played the rhythmic part underneath.

^^^ agreed, that completely ruined it for me when I saw that song live.. and I was so excited to see it... oh well.

I personally think Per's keyboard parts are quite simple, cliche, and boring... they should just bring steve wilson on tour with them
