I saw this article about Steinberger on some forum and was surprised by this bridge:

Anyone ever tried or heard of these?

If I recall, the tremolo action on it sounds just like bends.

I wish I could try one, at some point in my life. They seem really rare though.

I have played one.

They feel very nice! super smooth and even

You probably already know how they bend each string in tune with the rest, and can lock in 5 different tunings.

The tuning transposing is cool to fuck around with, but not too useful considering that one would usually change string gauges when dropping down a step, or 3 :). However, the trem arm lock is cool because when you quit using the whammy bar, it just locks back into standard tuning, and you have a fixed bridge every time you arent using the bar:headbang: also you can lock it in standard if you break a string live. No fucked up tuning!

Steinberger also had(has?) a trem called the S trem which is less bulky, less expensive$$$$, simpler, and doesn't transpose. it is ball bearing though, so it should feel the same. You can lock this one by flicking a lever. This, along with the wheel that adjusts the spring, makes setting up different string gauges a breeze.

-flip the lever to lock bridge in normal position
-pop in the new strings
-adjust the spring wheel to its approximate position (depending on the change of gauge, as not to pop any)
-flip the lever back into floating
-turn the wheel until everything is in tune
done.

the R trem supposedly sucks compared to the TT and S.

If i had to pick on, it would be the S fo sho.:kickass:

Hmmm i just noticed the new version of the TT. looks way different! much better

i just read on the HC reviews that the new one is difficult to lock in the diff positions ????

the old one was easy FWIW

Just watching the vid with Ned about the TransTrem, and it doesn't fill me with much confidence where he says if you pull up or press down on the trem, and don't release straight away (ie flutter) then you might end up, up to 15cents sharp or flat. I thought it was much more stable than that?
