1. Transient designer before compressor.
2. Compressor before transient designer.
3. Only compressors.
4. Only transient designers.
5. Do whatever-the-f***'s necessary to get it sounding good.

I go for 5.

Which of the above do you guys go with? Please elaborate your reasons as technically as possible. No.5 is pretty much self-explanatory so I'll pass ;) Cheers!

I'm still learning how to get the transient designers working how I want them to.
but once I get it how I like it seems pretty promising.

live I often run them parallel:

1 on group 1 for Kick
2 on group 2 for snare
3 + 4 on group 3 + 4 (stereo linked) for toms

comp on group 5 + 6 for parallel compression.

I still have a comp on the snare top to level the snare out a bit and gates on kick, snare bottom and toms


In the studio I often use them first in the chain:
transient designer -> comp -> EQ -> (clipper for snare)
