I'm making my first trip to the UK and flying into London. What's the best mode (price not being a major factor) of transportation from London to Derby. I've heard there's a train. WHat about bus, car?? I'm flying in at 6am if that makes a difference.

Email me at zinescene@hotmail.com if you can offer any information.

Thanks

John

I'd also recommend a car, although parking in Derby can be a bitch.

Maybe I'm jinxed with trains. I've only ever been on a train 4 times in my life and 3 times I've missed connections or been delayed by up to 4 hours.

Yep, I'd agree. Despite arriving in Derby in plenty of time last year[1], I still missed Infobia because it took so long to find a parking space! Since I'm staying overnight this time, I've booked a hotel with private parking to avoid the problem :)

[1] Maybe I'm just jinxed -- in '01, a water hose split on the M1 on the way up, causing the car to overheat...

Taxi might be worth it. A bit steep. But if price isn't a factor stated.. Run you about 90£-ish.. but you can "shop" around for the best deals with the different taxi firms. Save you having to worry about parking anywhere as well.

Bus, cheap.. but stupidly long travel time.

Train, faster though not as cheap.. and highly unreliable here in the UK, imho.
