Tribute to Chuck Shuldiner

Agreed. Besides, any sane person who isn't an egomaniac probobly wouldn't want people crying over his death years after just for being a famous musician. A musician that hadn't released a good album since 1993, I might add...

i'm going to heavily disagree here. i think all death albums were very good, but hey it's just a matter of opinion. the only thing i didn't care for was how each song on Perserverance could have been cut in half. the way he repeated each 4 minute section, with a solo in the middle wasn't really necessary.

Your point? Christians celebrate good friday, and laud christ.

Wrong. Christians do not "celebrate" Good Friday. It's the most sorrowful day of the year. Easter is the day of celebration.

Chuck was awesome. Any fans of Death should check out emptywords.com. You can order a decent T-shirt, and the proceeds go to pay off the medical bills.

But he was pretty egotistical.

I only really like Symbolic.

Let it go people.

I know what lauding means. The part that didn't make sense to me was "celebrating his death"

To me, that sounded like being happy he is dead, which would be contradictory to lauding him.

I also really like Symbolic, although I do enjoy TSOP from time to time. ITP isn't bad, and Human is amazing.

His lyrics were pretty much bollocks pre-Leprosy as well...

Fuck yeah. From what I hear, all his shit was good, early and late.

At least on Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy we just got the typical Death Metal lyrics. Not stupid shit like:

"Look to the past is what we must do, when justice was done and justice was true"

"They came, they saw, and acknowledged
Some good, some bad, Opinion: Dangerous"

So STUPID.

When you isolate those lines from the rest of their verses, yes they are.

You can go ahead and dissect all the lyrics in entirety on your own, pretty much all of them are pseudo-intellectual retardation. Or just complete fallacies like that hearty little statement in "Altering The Future". Oh well, still a good song.

Songs are about lyrics.
Music is about the vibe.
I just wish I could have seen these guys live.
I guess the boots and the dvd's will have to do.

i don't care if he sung about getting fucked in the asshole, the music ruled.

I totally agree. Lyrics don't matter to me, but people seemed to sing this guy's praises like he was some sort of lyrical genius, which he wasn't. Excellent guitarist, though.

Agreed.

Still, I liked a few of his snippets, like:

"Big words, small mind."

"You know so much about nothing at all."

"Not a drop of blood is drawn
but you know how it bleeds
beware of the sharp edged weapon
called human being"

"So you came across the sea
To spread your written brand of misery"

"Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes!"

"A request to die with dignity
Is that too much to ask?
Suicide machine!"

I didn't mean to go on a spree or anything, but I like little snippets of his stuff. A lot of it was babble, though. It took a while for that to dawn on me. Damn good guitarist, though.

I would definately not agree his lyrics post leprosy were retarded. In fact his lyrics pre-leprosy were probably the most retarded if one album had to be chosen.
