A friend gave me his Peavey TrippleX for changing the tubes (first change after 8 years of heavy use).
Old tubes were Ruby 6L6 biased at 37mA by 480V plate voltage. A JJ 12AX7 in V1, EHX 12AX7 for the others.
New tubes were TT 6L6 running at 41mA / 480V plate voltage and TT12AX7 (low noise V1 and balanced in PI).

identical settings, no post-processing, single SM57 on a Engl 4x12” with V30.

Probably a interesting comparison for those who think about changing tubes and are curious about the differences.

Interesting. Sounds a bit brighter and/or louder with the new tubes? I think you went a little too conservative on the gain on both clips, but that's just me.

Are the TT12AX7's another take on Shuguang 9G's? I've got a Triple X which is in desperate need of some TLC...

yeah, the amp is definitly louder and has more brightness overall, like the famous "blanked removed"-thing.
TubeTown-Tubes are some chinese tubes, but i don't know from which factory.

Speaking of tubes, does anyone know any good european vendor for selling matched tubes?

About the clip, definitely sounds a lot bigger, but its not as noticeable in the mix.
