I don't know anything about this band, but I just saw the video to their song "I want to rock" and it was so hilarious. they must've been active around the late 80s, right? so, I was wondering if they were meant to be taken seriously or if they had a more ironic attitude. maybe someone can describe what the metal scene was like at that time and how "this" can be explained in that context. :)

Oh they're one of the bands hair metal or "poodle metal" that was big in the 80's. A lot of songs about romance, lust and partying and they used make up and hairspray and all that. Then this died off.

True story:

This one woman that drove our city bus a while back had hair like Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and everytime we got on, we would yell "We're not gonna take it!". As I said, true story.

C'mon, cut them some slack. It was 20 years ago and the metal scene was much different at the time. They did the whole make-up thing with very tongue in cheek sense of humor. They were a pretty good band actually. Good song structure and interesting lyrics.
They were touring with Iron Maiden during 84/85 but unfortunately they cancelled on their Buffalo gig on account a family issue with the drummer I believe. So instead I saw, then local act, Talas open for Maiden that night. Never did get to see Twisted Sister.
anyway, you've got to remember to keep older acts in context with the time they were doing things. Hell, Slayer could be slagged for dressing in spandex pants and striped shirts way back in the early days when they were still doing Judas Priest covers.

Priceless...heh heh.

Twisted Sister rules, and Dee Snider turned out to be a bad ass. I mean, check out his movie, Strangeland. Also I hear they're going on tour again, make-up and costumes and all.
