Hi all,

You might remember the aborted attempt at a UM CD last year, which was cancelled due to various fundage problems.

Anyway, we're considering starting this idea off again, but with a different approach. Basically, we will be hoping to produce a small-run CD (at no cost to participating bands), at low cost to those of you interested in hearing new metal. It will be in a jewel-case, 4-page booklet, and 8-10 tracks.

Now my question/s to you:

Bands: Would you be interested in offering a track (not currently online, preferably!) to go on a CD at no cost, with the only repayment being a plug for your band/site/CD? :)

Music lovers: Would you spend £3/$5/5 euros on a CD of 8-10 tracks of new metal?

I thank you.

Sure, I'd buy it. How 'bout more tracks, though. Pack it out with 70+ minutes of tunes. Most places that press cds charge on a per disc basis, so you may as well fill it up.

I'd love to contribute, but I only have instrumental demos at this point. I'm working on my first cd and have yet to find a vocalist.
Perhaps I can contribute to Volume II. :)

The 8-10 track idea is just a rough guess, depending on the length of each track :) If we get a number of 4-minute songs, then of course we can squeeze some more tracks on. No doubt it will be rammed to the gills with music :)

As long as there's something to interest me on it. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy it if it turned into primarily a thrash or death metal compilation for example. But if there were a wide range of different bands and styles, then maybe.

My band is done recording our EP in just a week or two and then we're mixing and mastering it..I would love to contribute a track. The sound is sort of heavy, riff based traditional American metal (think old Testament, Maiden, old Savatage, old Stryper etc) with some progressive/death/power metal influences, if anyone is interested.

Just checked the info, COOL!
What's the deadline for song submission? Depending on when it is, I may actually be able to contribute.
Also, is this on a first-come-first-served basis or will the songs be randomly selected?

my band is just finishing the self produced Ep, and we would love to contribute, we're like and death metal version of a mix of nevermore/morbid angel/meshuggah/at the gates kind of thing.... just tell us how!!!

I would gladly buy it. At around $6, i think it would be very popular.

My band should get some good rehearsal time iin this summer along with plenty of material, then possibly record some stuff in a studio. I would be glad to contribute a track if this isn't complete until August/September if I can, but mayube my band should wait until a second volume.

I will definitely buy it.

Obviously the recording needs to be good enough quality to be released (not something that sounds like it was recorded in someone's garage).

Other than that, it will be down to whether they're shit or not (in my opinion;)).
