Looks like we got ourselves a proper cd at the beginning of 2008!

Black Neon Bob's band called ToxicGrindMachine is in recording-mode.
Vocals: I will be recording vocals on 20 and 29 of december in a nearby studio. Vocals on DeadHead myspace. Vocals will be more in-your-face and direkt, think AtTheGates/Kreator.

Solo's: A friend of mine (a real monkeygripp Vai-clone) will record the solo's after vocalrecording. He will play solo on pretty much everything, Bob will decide what to use (cause he's the Master:notworthy).

Guitars: Bob will re-re-re-record the guitars so they can be re-amped. Reamping will be done in the same studio with a Diezel VH4 and a Engl Vintage30 4x12. Bob's songs deserve a real guitarsound.

After that Bob will be mixing/mastering all the stuf and i wil be asslicking some labels to get a proper deal. Hopes this will work out great.

Ps. My band DeadHead will hit the studio in jan/feb.2008 to record the next album. I have asked Bob to mix and master the new album.:kickass:

I'm listening to the tracks on DeadHead's myspace profile right now... this shit sounds great !

I dig the drums soundfromthe Haatland cd. Solos are great too.

Studio videos are very cool to watch. Very tight guitar playing !

Fuuuuck yeah! I can't wait for this shit to go down!

Any chance you could heavily document the processes you'll be at with pictures and maybe even video?

I will take pictures of the guitarrecordings/reamping. Will photograph ampsettings and mikeplacements. Haven't got a videocamera. That's the best i can do for TGM.

One of my guitarplayers from DeadHead has a videocamera, maybe i can use it a couple of days. We still have 5 hours (!!!) of video from the Haatlandrecordings. Will edit it when we hit superstar-status:lol:

I hate it when people judge your amp's sound on crappy videoshoots, so don't dispise me if i'll only take pictures.

I am really excited to finally finish the TGM album. Bob's sound has evolved over the past 2 years to fat, open, expensive, transparant and big sound.
I really think he has the ability to be a succesfull producer/mixer. He has the combination of good ears, musical talent, easy personality and drive.
He is not fortuned to mix our album, we are fortuned to have him as our mixer.

Thanx.
Haatland is Recto's and Mesa cabinets.
Solo's are Mesa Mark 4.
I know Jacob (Hansen) has used drumsamples together with the analoge drums. Think a mix of 50/50. The reverb on drums is the drumroom at Jacob's place. I think the whole recording could be a litle more in-your-face for this type of thrashmetal.
For the next DH album we will make our own drumsamples from the drummer's actual drumkit. Our aim is an overal in-your-face sound, yet big and bulgy. Thrashmetal is agressive, so it should sound agressive!!

are you and bob going to re-record the drums, or are you sticking with the programmed ones?

No.
First we would find a good drummer, they are hard to find.
Then it would take a lot of time to re-record all the drums.

I think it's not a bad thing the drums sound a bit industrial or programmed, it suits the music.
The latest mix (thats not on soundclick) is also very, very good.

Hey! i just noticed this thread...

Yup, it's finally coming to a end, or a beginning if you think about it.

I have no camera here, and im sure nobody wants to see my crusty behind in my old ass dusty room behind the computer, mixing tracks.. heh.
However, we could just keep this thread alive with all kinds of updates and perhaps some clips when all is recorded.

Im really excited about this project, vocals will be ace, bass will be ace, etc.. and to all of those on this forum, thanks for the support and many, many helpfull tips!
