Upgraded to Win 7 - Now ASIO4All Driver Doesn't Work. Help!

Odd. Can i ask why you're using ASIO4ALL? I have the same setup as I'm running Win 7 x64, Reaper 3.76 and I just use the drivers that came with my interface. I tried ASIO4ALL once and ran into the same problem you have. But using the interface drivers should work just fine.

Two things...

1. Why are you using Asio4All? Use your driver with whatever interface you use.
2. Windows 7 audio is at 48khz, not 44.1. It's annoying but that's what they chose to do in W7. The fuzz may be from that. Check your settings.

I'm not using an outboard interface, i'm using my soundcard, of which, there are no Win 7 updated drivers (worked fine when I had XP). Also, for midi, I'm using midisport uno into a keyboard module. Can't afford anything right now, but i want to keep recording. I'm running win 7 32 bit mode

I'm not sure if this will help, but a lot of problems with standard audio in Win7 come from power usage settings which seem to default to power saving. Find it and put it on "High Performance". I had proplems with DPC latency and horrible crackling audio through my soundcard and Profire 2626 and this fixed it straight away.

Well then don't use your soundcard. Get an outboard interface, install drivers and you should be set. Fastrack USB was like $100. Not going to get much cheaper than that.

OK, I'll check out Fastrack when I can scrap a couple of bucks together. In the mean time, I've "Mondorigged" the recording process to make the singer more comfortable with the latancy delay....
I use two outboard pieces of gear - Bellari tube preamp, and an Alesis compressor/limiter. Since the the preamp has a two outputs (XLR and 1/4 inch), I simply run a guitar chord from the exra output, to my Boss BR-1600 Digital Recorder, the mixer I use to monitor the recording, and crank up the original signal. Now the vocalist still hears the delayed signal through Reaper, but it's overshadowed by the original source signal, and just sounds like a quick slapback delay.
I worked it out, but it just goes to show that Microsoft doesn't care about DAWs

I'm not sure if I'd call your setup a high end recording process

Ok, just changed it to "Microsoft doesn't care about DAWs", a more general term. The point that I was making wasn't about the safistication of the digital recording software I'm using,(yes, Pro Tools is better than Reaper, and the outboard products i'm using are inexpensive), but the fact that Microsoft doesn't care about us recording gearheads, when the put out a product like Win 7, and we have to get all this 3rd party software to make it work right. They just care about the general user that want's to watch youtube videos of cats playing the piano.
And, no, I can't afford an Apple Computer, so I'm stuck with PC for now.

It's not Microsoft's fault.. Try to check File / Project Settings in Reaper. Check your project sample rate and your wave bit depth, and maybe try lowering it.

BTW, it's easy for people to get short with you because your system specs are pretty shite. Most people just realize it's time to upgrade.

P.S. Reaper kicks Pro Tools' ass.

Win7 has been a near flawless victory for me. DAW's are more complicated than regular consumer software b/c they require lots of 3rd party software, drivers and hardware to work in concert. They require diligence on the part of the user to make sure all of the pieces fit together.
My Win7 DAW is as stable as my Apple DAW but it did require a bit more effort. Seriously man, you quit asking questions and just started complaining two days ago.

Its a soundblaster card isnt it? Probably a 16bit card ...

Your DAW nor Windows is the problem, the problem is you are using a cheap soundcard not made for the OS you installed on your system. PC 101 states BEFORE YOU UPGRADE LOOK FOR DRIVERS!

If you didnt look for divers before you upgraded then the fail is on your part.

Sorry I don't have a better computer, like an i3, i7, or i5, (I could buy one, but I would end up living in a "van down by the river"), but going from XP to win 7 should have given me a better recording experience, and when it got worse, I freaked. I'm glad you guys are doing fine with your win 7, but the web is full of people who liked using ASIO4all as a driver in XP (like me) but now can't use it because it's incompatable with Win 7

Here are my settings for Reaper 3.76

Wave out
Sample Format 16 bit
Just 2 channels for input and output
Sample rate 44100
Buffers 8 x 520 samples

Also, are you guys running different setting for recording vs mixing
