Yo

Well, last week I was in the US of A for a couple of hours on my way back to Australia, and everyone had to fill out the customs form we were given. You've probably heard about these not-too-subtle questions from people, perhaps second-or-third hand, so here it is from someone who has the form in his sweaty little hand right now.

I'll just mention the two questions that are the funniest:

---
Do any of the following apply to you? (Answer Yes or No)

B. Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentence to confinement was five years or more; or been a controlled sustance trafficker; or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?

C. Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?
---

I was THIS CLOSE to ticking Yes to question C and then crossing it out and saying I stuffed it up, but figured I might get in a bit of strife for joking about that sort of thing over there :) But gee, how did those September 11 terrorists get by customs with a foolproof form like this??

My sister who moved across there just after Sept 11 said she had to not only answer a pile of questions in regards to her self but her kids who were at the time 6 and 3 had to have a huge amount of screening done as well (now tell me what a child that age is gonna do to a country)

Those questions are part of a binding contract that allows you passage into, or through, the USA.

If you're found to be in breach of that contract, you spend your time in a US prison, with no hope of extradition to your home country.

Indeed, as Stevo has explained, you're basically signing a contract saying that you're going to be a model citizen. So if you say you're not a criminal or in some way deviant, and you are, you're effectively making a false statement! Can you imagine what would happen to people if they were made to do that here?

(This is dreamy AGAIN  )

I was explicitly told by a lovely young chap at Heathrow that if I wanted to gain entry to the US that I should make sure I tick no to all the boxes. He told me because I was so poilite, aaawwwwww, bless. :) I did have to lie to do that mind you. :o
