Hate to say it, but listening on a pair of Equator D5s I can actually tell a decent difference between the two DIs. The second one, presumably the UX1, sounds less bright and has much less bass. But as you said, minimal difference in the distorted one.

Yes, definite difference in the clean sounds. I'm not using the clean though. I use a strat for my clean stuff through podfarm and it sounds amazing. The distorted tones though are lacking and any interface sounds identical. So is it safe to say im wasting my time and i wont get a better distorted tone through an expensive interface? People claim you do. If you do, i want to buy one. Im mainly using the distorted tone as i play metal and rock mostly.

I prefer the 2nd distorted one (more full, less scratchy). But I prefer the first DI.

Are you planning on reamping proper with a microphone and a speaker cabinet for your distorted tones? I can't listen to the tests right now but if you just desire to use amp sims the difference will almost certainly be negligible.
