Because as someone else already pointed out, it's very raw. Not that there's anything wrong in being raw, it's just that I feel that the drums kind of take over the entire sound - drowning some of the keyboards actually.

I've only listened to it twice, so maybe it will grow and feel more "at place" later though...

This is probably the final mix, because they should be sending out promos soon. In fact, they should've already sent them out but Napalm has been having leaks like mad and so they're not sending them out. Including to me, despite me supposedly being a part of the promotional cycle for this record. Ridiculous? Why yes, yes it is. Anyway, I get why they're holding them back—but back to your original question—yes, this is probably the final mix.

I actually like the mix pretty well. What I dislike the most is the part around three minutes where it FADES OUT! :cry:
 
Fuck! I was out of the net for a while and this happens!!!

It's a really promising track indeed! the first riffs can fit easily on ÖS (like the title track) or Even TF, absolutely black metal riffage in a very old school way. I'm agree with the Fission comparison, mostly for the keys. The bass is quite audible and interesting, which is also great. I like the production, it sounds far more powerful than Solens, which 'twas very soft in nature.

The vocals? the cleans are the usual Andreas IMO, like the last Borknagar or Cronian offerings (better than Universal's I think). The grim vocals sounds vicious... I wonder why he doesn't sound this powerful and harsh on Borknagar.

Phil: you did a great job with the layout! it looks beautiful! (I'm even tempted on to ask you for a job on one of my myspaces hehehe)

I thought the cleans sounded really great, as did the black vocals. I also thought that the clip was INSANELY AWESOME. And have been listening to it non-stop as said.

Also, thanks! It helps to have beautiful artwork, though! I was hoping to get a copy without the text, and then use that to just wrap the whole thing, but I was unable to get that. :Smug: But still, that artwork is so gorgeous that I want it on my wallpaper.

So different, those violins at the start, the bass lines… saying that the vocals are amazing is an understatement; it's his best singing ever.

It feels like a natural progression of Cosmic Genesis, with the current musical maturity of the band, plus the prog parts of the Focusing Blur.

HOWEVER.

It feels, at the same time, something totally new. It's, without doubt, Vintersorg… but with, as I said before, much more musical maturity; a natural progression of things… but new. MY ears have lost their virginity again.

Thank you, it's beautiful. And this is only one song, don't know how I'm going to feel with the entire album.
 
Great! I like it sounds freeezcsh! eclectic yet a bit raw at times but not too raw... sophisticated rawness..

Funny, I just decided to go to the forum and complain about no samples... but here it is! :)

I thought the production was great, no complaints whatsoever. It actually doesn't sound "raw" to me.

I really liked the short drum solo, I can't recall any other song with that.

The bass lines are great, and quite audible too, hence making me wonder on the "raw" production. I believe that if you can hear the bass on the first listen, it means the album has a great production.

Yes, everyone seems to be talking about Skogen Sover (me understands, whee), maybe it's the "best track" of the album?
 
Well, can't say that it was something I was expecting :rofl:. I didn't like the first part, but then it got better, I guess it just has to grow on me or that today I didn't woke up in a very metal-ish mood.

To comfort her: I was at psychology course and the instructor also deals with phobias and mentioned that it's 4 times likely to win the lottery than to perish in a plane crash.
 
The rawness of the music is great :D sounds less prog and more black, but there is the "secret ingredient" that i call 'V factor' which is that magical feeling that we feel only when we listen Vintersorg :p and damn..the V factor in that sample is amazing ..no complaints about that thou :p:p
 
I don't think it sounds raw, maybe a little darker than S.R. I'm glad the drum programming is scaled back with more straight forward beats and less manic fills everywhere, but maybe it's just this particular song. So far, so good. Can't wait to hear more sample tracks.

^ Indeed about the drums...the drums in solens are very complicated, but for me it's not a bad factor if the musician knows how to make the drums, thks god andreas knows how to make that :p but i was missing the blackened drum style in Mr V's songs..like the drums in Till Fjälls.
