"vamoose!"

i dunno, i have probably been behind the counter at least five separate times when people came into the ice-cream store and snapped at us because "jimmies is RASCEST, don't you know?! it comes from JIM CROW!" (it doesn't) and they don't explain much more than that.

but people also stuffed the comment box with stupid, uninformed complaints so much that the owner changed the signs to say SPRINKLES. "jimmies", like "frappe", is kind of a charming regionalism, and it's pretty lame that he had to cave in to the misguided forces of PCism like that.

(and yes yes i know, a frappe and a milkshake ARE different, and the other 49 states are wrong when they say "milkshake" but actually want a frappe, no need to tell me)

and doesnt vamoose translate roughly to "Get the 'ell out of 'ere you stinking dirty Mexeecans!" I think I heard it used towards some drunken mexicans at a check cashing place when I lived in AZ.

it just comes from a spanish word, does that make it racist? also, i totally forgot that thread existed. i must block out threads that fuck with my mind.
