Varg is to be released from prison shortly after April '06
Your thoughts on him releasing another album after he is out of prison.

Well the entire Norwegian BM community totally disowned him after he got indicted. I suppose if any band would take him back it would be a psuedo fascist white power band like Burzum.

I would be laughing hysterically if Varg did a reunion tour with Mayhem playing Oystein's guitar riffs. LMAO ultimate PWN.

I think he said that he is afraid that if he releases a new cd that it will not be original and it will be much like his older shit.

It's funny that one man (Varg) can play better music than like 6 people (Cradle of Filth).

You fucking idiot. Of course a solo project is going to make more introspective and personal/emotional music than a group of 6 drunken poms. But even comparing the two is really dumb, because Burzum makes better music than any other black metal band.

1: BURZUM IS NOT AN ARYAN "BAND". fucking morons
2: shut the fuck up
3: to answer the guys question. id be very interested in hearing a new album in hopes that its another burzum/aske.
4: burzum has strong enemies but also a strong fanbase. in any case, i dont think anything past words is going to happen if anything negative comes from his release.

When Varg went to jail, 90% of the important black metal acts in the world knew him personally, and more importantly knew Aarseth personally. Now, young members of the "scene" around the world know him only as a myth, a legend, and I'm sure most would be honored to work with him. Hell, I'll write him a letter, tell him to sing in my band.

You do know Varg IS Burzum right? It's a one man band.

Haha, I was waiting for someone to point that out.

I assume he'd continue working solo wouldn't he?

Ya know, not necessarily. A band of several individuals can make awesome, awesome music if the band chemistry is right. Maybe only one person WRITES the music anyway, there are lots of bands like that, and band input sure does help in improving the music a lot of the time, trust me, I know

Also, there are so many shitty solo projects that it makes me cry, and they are hardly more "introspective and personal/emotional" than about 5000 4- or 5-piece bands I listen to

Fair call. But generally speaking, it would make sense than individual artistic vision would have more personal relevance than that of a group.

I don't think his release should be allowed if he's going to get into Black Metal again or he may be tempted to follow the music themes and offend. He will obviously be angry/upset and might want to take his frustrations out on someone or a particular group. The consequences of his release couyld be disastrous.

1. A lot of people hated Euronymous; the scene as a whole was split between people who sided with Euro, people who sided with Varg, and people who didn't care. It's kinda amusing that you say "the entire Norwegian BM community disowned him" when one of the most prominent Norwegian bands, DARKTHRONE, had him do lyrics on their most famous album, TRANSILVANIAN HUNGER.

2. Burzum is a one man band. You didn't know this, yet for some reason think it's a white power band despite the fact that of your hypothetical band members, only Varg has expressed white power views (the statements of one band member should never be deemed representative of the whole group), and even given that it's a one man band, Burzum has NEVER been used as an explicit vehicle for those views?

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about, stick to CoF.
