For those who couldn't attend this year's Obscene Extreme festival (Obscene Productions' yearly event bringing death, grind, and other extreme acts to the Czech masses), and who furthermore can't quite bring themselves to purchase the DVD, those kindly folks at the label bring you this compilation CD. Comprising of album/ep/split/cover/unreleased tracks from most of the bands who attended the festival (not to mention a few unknowns), the Obscene Extreme 2005 compilation is a pretty decent compilation prize.

Blood Duster weigh in first with 'Looking Forward to A Long Toxic Death', which is as brutal and catchy as you'd expect. Early highlights come in the shape of Avulsed's punishing 'Goresplattered Suicide' and Isacaarum's utterly frenetic 'Buttsuck'. The quality material comes thick and fast - one disc, thirty-seven tracks, with artists including Regurgitate (who supply a previously unreleased cover, if I recall), Screamin' Daemon (whose 'Kill Your Family (Then Yourself)' is a particular high point), Onanizer and Stoma.

Whatever style of sickening brutality or blistering grind you personally prefer, you're sure to find at least one track on here that makes you sit up and go "fuckin' hell, what was that?". Which is pretty much what you want from a disc of this sort, isn't it? Of course, if your preferred listening material is more in the line of Children Of Bodom, you may want to stay away.
