Veil of Maya guitar tone?

can ANYONE get close to that tone with a podxt? i have tried.. its just hard to get close!

i love their chun sound, its heaps of compression tbh and i think the chuns e.q is tied sooo close to the kick e.q, thats how they get that really THUMPY sound that blows your ears off. Listen to Wounds or pillars

Well someone in the forum did a superb cover of cynic's "veil of maya" with a Pod and practically nailed the tone, but I'm guessing that's not what you're talking about...

I just can't understand why someone would want that horrible tone!

But what do I know, maybe it can sound good if the mix isn't compressed and limited to DEATH and sounds like crap overall.

haha well i am recording a local band and i asked what guitar tones they liked, and they said Veil of maya! so yea...

I think Michael Keene dials in very "unique" tones. I can't see his tones working or sounding good outside of an album he's engineered, but on the veil of maya album it sounds cool.
