Vendors

I had talked to Mike early today about vending since I want to vend again at next years fest. However, he told me having vendors is up in the air right now because he doesnt know we'd doing it because of the limited space at Reggie's, and the the usual merch table area at Reggie's is small and will be reserved for the bands.

My suggestion was that we could put vendors up in the balcony that way us vendors can watch the show and when people come up stairs to take a seat they can browse over some cool music. So balcony is one idea.

Does anyone else who is familiar with Reggies layout have any ideas as where to place us vendors?? I really want to vend again, had a great time last year meeting everyone, talking about metal, and giving people new suggestions.

So lets brainstorm!

I have no familiarity with the venue, but if there's a way to fit in a few vendors, I'm all for it. It's a key part of any fest (for me at least).

I agree....the upstairs balcony works out great. At the Desaster show hey had 4 vendor tables up there and it worked out really good. I think it is an important part of the fest to have vendors. It is something I always look forward to at festivals. Half the time bands have a huge table with 2 different shirts to sell. waste of space. there should be plenty of room for some vendors I think.

Bob, talk to Mike. Convince the balcony would be great for it. I think it would be as well, that way all us vendors can see the show too. His only thought was the Music JOint for them but even he didnt like that idea. And i told him if he did the music joint, i wouldnt be vending.

But yes i believe vendors are essential as well. Yes there are killer bands, but im trying to cut down on my shirt buying because i have a million already. Id rather buy music, and vendors always bring some killer stuff. Although this year i may have to buy a few shirts, c'mon its OZ when will i ever have this opportunity again!?

He is a hard man to cinvince. You also need to try and have others email him as well. Flood the facebook page. I am still fighting to have Bonded By Blood and Fueled By Fire on the mainstage.

Vending at last year's show was definitely a highlight for me. As for where, upstairs sounds good. I wouldn't know though as I've never actually been upstairs. I know sometimes with certain shows, bands have had tables to the left side of the wall near the stage, but that might get annoying if there's a ton of people vending.

Second Stage will suck, especially if simultaneously because lets be honest whos going to miss the main stage for Bonded or Fueled?? I have no plans to has ive seen Bonded 3 times already, and Fueled i could care leas about.

They will probably be keeping alot band gear on the left side as they usually do when lots of bands are playing, and it would be too congested with people down there to have even a little room.

Balcony is the best bet.

I think the upstairs balcony might be the only option.
At Katatonia / Orphaned Land, OL set up along the wall on the floor, to the left side if you are facing the stage.
I suppose that's an option, but also near the dressing room entrance.
Being a festival, there will be a lot of coming and going through that doorway.

I agree, I am not sold on the second stage idea either.

There are multiple floors to the Reggies building, perhaps one of those could be dedicated to vendors? Sucks that you couldn't watch and vend, but it wouldn't be the end of the world either. There is also a side room in between the entrance to the main music room and the bar area that could house a vendor or two possibly.

But the balcony idea sounds really nice.

The main problem though with vending and not being able to watch is that im not going to pay for a ticket if i cant watch the fest. If i had to choose betwen watching the fest or vending, id choose being a fan standing in the pit for 7 hours over vending anyday of the week.

But yes balcony would work well for everyone.

#1: I inquired about the balcony months ago and how that would affect capacity. I was given the suggestion of the area by the door or the music joint. No input on the cap. One won't work and the other is a terrible idea. But like always, I'll get to it when I have time. Everyone said to do it at Reggies so it would sell out. Well I listened and it will sell out. Now I have a venue that will ultimately cost $7500 and a very small space to work with. Due to this huge fee and previous loses, space for people who buy tickets takes priority. I suggest letting me do my thing and I'll do what is best for the fest overall. Considering that I don't charge vendors, and actually took the time to inquire about the best position (and left it on the to-do list instead of going with "good enough for me") harassing me like Bob suggested is a good way to get this moved to the "not worth the trouble" category.

#2: If you don't like the 2nd stage...don't go over there. It is exactly the same as if it wasn't there. This reminds me of the constant complaining about the Hustler store here in Cincinnati. If you don't like porn and sex toys, don't go in the damn store. Leave it for those who want to go in. There was a black metal show down the street the other night. I didn't want to go so I stayed home. I didn't go online and say how stupid it was. That would be offensive........ I'm sure someone will say "but there might be two bands I want to see at the same time." There is no difference in missing them and them not playing. Oh wait. The band that wants to play gets screwed over because you'd rather them not play at all if you can't see them.

And finally...Bobby, those two bands came with the package. If I don't want them on my stage, they don't get on. If I don't need those two slots, I will consider moving them. You are wasting your breath (or finger movements). I've considered many things and I will make the decision when I do. I've given you an option to get what you want. Take it and stop trying to convince me.
