Very stupid question (new to PT LE)

Can you use pro tools with other interfaces? Say you have a MBOX and you want to connect another interface via firewire (not digidesign). Is that possible? Sorry I was always under the impression that you can only use PT software with PT interfaces then I thought well as long as you have their interface you can always add on with non digidesign stuff.

If you are talking about A/D/A interfaces, you can use other connected through S/pdif, AES-EBU or ADAT, not through firewire.
In the Mbox case I think it has only S/pdif.

because the person who is buying my onyx 1620 wants to use pro tools as well. Since Im not familiar with PT I thought, well PT should be able to read the I/O's from the firewire connected mackie and there you go.. 8 extra pres! But I guess I thought wrong haha.
