what could possibly possess someone to say nay to vinyl?

elaboration: nothing, i repeat NOTHING sounds as good as vinyl. it's like playing through an all tube amp, you can't improve on the tone and feel.

as far as being practical, obviously vinyl has many disadvantages, same as tube amps. especially since tube amps can kill you. :zombie:

ps: i still miss 8 track.

Vinyl fucking rules. I checked the first option because I've bought like 40 records over the past few months and I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon, so yeah I'm a collector. I'm also huge.

Indifferent.

elaboration: has a night retro feel for older music (classic rock and such) but beyond that, i just don't see much point.

DIE FAGGOT

vinyl goooooooooooooooooood. i dont have a turntable though. those bastards are expensive. i just go to a friend's or something.

Thrift stores and old people garage sales, man. Also any cool reckid store would have some refurbished ones for $50-$60.

you can get new ones for under $100 at circuit city.

have i one to call my own? nope, i'm a cheap bastard!

i have some records, but i got them cuz they're especially cool/limited, cuz i don't have a turntable  my brother has one but i only live with him half the year so that's not really practical...so until i have enough money to burn 100 bucks on my own one i'll continue saving my money for the *really* cool shit. so far i just have agalloch's "the mantle" double lp on grey vinyl, the agalloch/nest split 12" picture disc, and a really sweet green/black splattered vinyl 7"...and a couple old rush records i got for like $3 at amoeba :p

and on the topic of sound quality, most people don't realize how much mp3s suck out tone/soul :ill:

used to have tons of vinyl back in the days ... i think metal really does not benefit much from vinyl ... if you are into classical, jazz or more acoustic stuff ... yes, go for it.

They rule but are a hassle in some ways

they are really a pain in the ass ... i think this is why you really have to be a teenager or an old fart to listen to vinyl ... these are the times in your life when you have time to waste for removing from sleeve, dust disc, dick around with turntable and actually sit and listen ... :loco:

I have like 20 awesome LPs that my dad passed down to me, along with his really fantastic hydaulic turntable. I bought my own for $150 last Christmas because I don't want anything bad to happen to that old one... it's too good to ruin.

My own personal viny collection is probably around 15-20, but I have some nice items!

I <3 vinyls

Though I don't listen to them much, because I just have cheap turntable, and it just plays through my computer speakers... which doesn't really bring out their awesomeness to the fullest.

I still buy them now and then, and love having them around, cause even if I don't listen to them particularly much nowadays, some day I will have a decent setup to enjoy them on.

... Like when I get a turntable built onto the dash of my car!
