Vol. 8

Mr Thrax think about it. If there is no company, there is no one to get the rights from. It would be like trying to buy something from a store that never opens.

Someone who exists does own the rights though. Think about it. They had "Inside Out" and "Crush" on Return of the Killer A's. One band member made a reference in an interview to how stupid someone would have to be pretty dumb to get in the way of re-releasing it because it's not making any money when it's not out. This is really a major screwjob anyway you put that they can't even sell their last studio album.

They can re-release individual songs and videos because they have access to the publishing rights of said songs. Even though all the Joey songs were on Island, they still showed up on the Killer A's correct. But Beyond doesn't own those records. Releasing the entire album is a different game because you have the entire package to consider - it's a legal mess. If they had access to it (the entire album) they would have put it back out w/ SoWN and 442 dontcha think.

I don't know. Island is obviously interested in milking the old catalogue for what it's worth, so they would never oppose re-releasing that material. I never suggested they had access to the entire album. I'm just sure I've heard them say how frustrated they are that the man who controls the album won't give in.

I recently got the Universal Masters Collection and it turns out that Universal is affiliated with Island (somehow, I don't know how, it just has Island on the back of the CD, along side the Made In Eu. , etc.) but I thought getting it from Europe, I'd be "supporting the band" ya know? Guess not after seeing Island on there!

yeah it sure is a mess, did ignition fold or go bankrupt?because if they went belly up wouldnt a liquidator go in and sort the mess out, surely the person that has the rights would do a deal with the band that would benefit both parties!

they should just re release it under a diff name lol!!!

but at the end of the day i spose money talks and bullshit walks
