I still can't believe how good amp rack sounds. Considering how terrible every other included amp sim is, its nothing short of amazing!

Amp Rack sounds good, Very musical. I like to use real amps but i think I would like this. The real test would be trying it with my own original shit.
This is only available in Cubase I presume?

not to be a dick or anything, but aside from the amp rack that you can only get with cubase, is there any point in posting a shootout between a bunch of freeware vst's?

seeing how the sound of each can very greatly due to different settings, IRs, and even the signal chain before the amp, wouldn't it be much more useful for someone to just d/l the 4-5 vst's and fuck with them themselves?

Your statement is true but...I take it that the OP is simply just trying to show the capabilities these free vsts have. I'm more than sure that the OP spent some time trying to make the free vsts sound good. And out of his efforts, the amp rack sounded best to me. But yes I can see your POV ( he used soloc as a booster and not tse808 in one of the clips which can upgrade/degrade the sound depending on one's preference) But again I think he is simply just trying to show us what these vsts are capable of producing and there is no wrong in that.

Of course it is more useful for everybody to download the vsts and try them out, but hey, what´s wrong about doing a short clip with the different vsts and put it on youtube ? For some people it might be interesting what the sims CAN sound like !
And of course it was fun to tweak those freeware vsts and get some decent results ;)

Great! What impulses did you use?

I don´t really know, ´cause i have hundreds of impulses (all the free ones ;) ), but i think they are from the guitarshack ir compilation.

Damn, I'd have to say that vst amp rack sounds the best. The rest are a bit scratchy. I also liked the song on http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/production-tips/772645-cubase-vst-amp-rack-metal.html what did you use? Drums sounds legit. Information on the mix would be awsome. Drums? processing plugins, reverb, etc.

Thanks dude ! I agree with that the vsts often sound a bit scratchy. For the drum mix i only used the internal effects from Superior 2, so nothing special going on here ;)
