Hi

I'm looking for a 5-string bass, metal oriented and for studio use only (mainly to record my demos and stuff). I cannot spend more than around 300€ so I think I'll buy an used one to get something a bit better. I was thinking of Ibanez or Squier, don't know really. Ideas?

Thank you mates! I searched for the Fender but all are around 700€ used... There's this model but Squier for less than 300€ used.

well, for that price it´s the usual suspects. Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass '70s or take a look at ibanez BTB, the 200 series used it´s quite cheap and seems quite good for metal.

I've got a yamaha RBX375 that gets the job done. I've recorded some good tones with it in the past. I think they're within your budget and may be worth a look.

I've been pleasantly surprised when I had this thing around lately

my bass player has the same one but the first version (or an older version), and it doesn't sound nearly as cool.

The actual model has a knob more than the older one.
EQ and stuff is really useable and tweakable. Got a pretty massive sound out of it, which still surprises me when I hear it

So just in case you consider that one and look for it used, look for the newer version with more knobs.
(can very well be that the bass of my bass player is somewhat fucked tho...haven't looked at it for a while since we always record with mine)

i have a 6 string ibanez gio and it is surprisingly good for the price. not that different from a soundgear imho:

look for some old us made peavey basses too. can get super quality for super cheap.
This is a great tip. Peavey has made some great basses over the years but there is such a stigma on the name you can get a USA built instrument for nothing. The only thing to watch out for are the proprietary pup shapes they sometimes use which makes them a PITA to upgrade.

^ any of you know well peavey grind? I saw one here for sell quite cheap. The design its great but not sure about the sound.
