Tom Cruise is an advocate of the sham known as Scientology...
Along with John Travolta.
There are other celebs that believe this insidious tripe, but those two are the most outspoken. Ordinarily one shouldn't be blacklisted for belonging to a religion, but Scientology is only a religion so they don't have to pay taxes.
Furthermore, they dismiss all psychiatry as "pseudoscience" when in fact their methods are thoroughly just that.
Also, Scientology has an active celebrity recruiting program, in which they use celebrties as figureheads to recruit people(and take their money for bogus "auditing" by severly unqualified individuals who use tin cans (really!) Of course they always find something wrong with you, whereas at least some psychologists won't try to con you out of your money unconditionally.

Although it was a well made movie and very enjoyable to watch there is one fatal flaw in the storyline and sadly enough if they just stuck to the original HGWells story this would not have happened.

I'm with you Karen, I loved the original movie. The book fo course was fantastic. I thought the TV show was great. I even watched the BBC series " Tripods" which was a take off on the war of the worlds. For those who never saw it , the premise was kind of a what if the martians succeeded and enslaved man idea.
The musical with Justin Hayward was very cool, they are re-releasing it on DVD finally.

i saw WotW last wednesday. i wasn't too impressed - too much standard hollywood there. they had some cools scence tho - like when tom cruise (iirc) walks through that forest (or small group of trees) and it rains the clothing of the killed people - that looked quite cool...
