Was there no talk of the new Blind Guardian album here?

Just listened to most of it on the streaming preview (yeah, BG is no longer a blind buy for me, but hearing that unmistakable guitar tone again is enough to reaffirm they are masters of their genre)...I fall in line with the consensus here, it has some of their most metallic songs in years but falls short of Nightfall and Imginations, the latter of which I get the impression they wanted to model this one after. Will buy soon.

Im on the fence with this one. Some of the songs really rock, but others just leave alot to be desired. To be honest if might be there weakest album in my eyes. Thats not really saying much though since I think all there albums pretty much rule.

Its as good as Nightfall. My noly complaint is FLY AND DEAD SOUND OF MISERY ARE THE SAME SONG!!

Yeah that is ridiculous....but there is so much song material here it becomes a moot point.

I'll say this: the new BG is a grower. Just two listens in after my last opinion and it's vastly improved.

The dynamics and 3 bajillion riffs have put BG back on the map. Yeah, it's too early to compare it to ANY other BG album but one thing is obvious -- there is nothing 'immediate' on this album. (Much like the new Maiden).

I skimmed through a bit of it and I must say, I was surprised. They have definitely returned somewhat to their sound before "ANATO".

Somewhere Far Beyond is an essential album.
Journey Through The Dark, Time What Is TIme, ,SFB , The Bard Song.! Come one guys you cant be serious.

verdict is in: new BG is very good, but not as good as the last three.

I would rank this alongside Somewhere Far Beyond
Man, at least admit it shits all over Night At the Opera. Or am I the only one who rates that as Blind Guardian's absolute worst album by far?

I'd put it alongside Nightfall, maybe a little below. I just have a limited tolerance for spoken interludes and that hurts Nightfall in my mind.
