The guitar tone is so smooth. Is that because you rolled down the highs or presence or is it because of the Mic placement?

I played around with the guitars a lot.. This was my first time using a mesa dual rect head, and it turned out quite well.

I changed a lot of the settings that it was one, such as the power mode, the tube mode and I used channel two with a couple boosters in front of it.

The mic placement was a sm57 straight on with the cone and an SM7b on a 45 degree facing the cone.. It's also known as the fredman technique.

I was pretty hesitant to do this, as any time I've tried straight on with the cone, it ended up being really brittle, but that sm7b added so much warmth/mid punch to it.

Then I just bussed the guitars and added very light eq.

No problem man.

Just FYI, a 5150 is waaayy easier to dial in a good tone than a mesa for some reason, so I'm sure you'll do great.

Ok, my first go at a mix for this thing. Going for a relatively natural sound but huge at the same time..

Theres a really weird thing going on in the 1-300hz range (kind of woofy sounding from the bass i think?) try to clean that up just a tad and clear the muffle up, it seems to be overpowering the guitars a bit. Song is sick though, whenever you get a feel for where you're going for the band its gonna sound amazing

Thank you guys! The EP is almost done, and i'll be keeping this thread updated with different mixes.
