how to set it up to get maximum effect? and can somebody explain me how it works? i tried it and it sounded quite cool but it muddied the 100-150 area and i don't know if i set it up incorrect or so...

Don't do it. Practice to make a better mix first before strapping on something like that on the master
i always try to make good mixes, but i just can't make the bass sound great. i found out that this could help and bring up the overall bass level. just need some advice how can i do it in the proper way, and not "do by myself".

No one is trying to be a wise ass here (because I'm sure you'll get some more similar posts)...but the "proper way" was just given to you. Practice at getting your mix better. Do NOT use something like this on your master bus. It CAN be somewhat useful on an individual track in certain circumstances, but on the master....? Just...no. In the long run, you'll be much better off getting your mixes balanced without relying on tools such as this, which actually tend to make things worse anyway.

I had a similar plugin to maxxbass. it was probably the hardest thing ever to get myself to stop using it. but once I did, I found that it was actually what was hurting my mixes the most.
It's still a great tool to have in your arsenal just in case something goes horribly wrong in your tracking or mixing process. but it's probably best kept as a plan C.
although it did prove great for a Hip Hop mix I'm working on. haha

Surely if you have Waves you have something like PodFarm and PodFarm can make bass guitar no matter how crappy of a bass make it sound good enough to not have to use Maxx Bass. Considering WAVES is over a $5000 depending on the version, surely you have spent $200 on PodFarm or some other VST bass plugin

Diamond bundle is like $2000
Atleast on my case it was just an "extended trial period", since now that I started to go legit, I just noticed that I almost literally need some of those plugins because I used them so frequently like PAZ, Rvox, L2, C4 and C1.
But it's really insane to notice the plugins that I use the most (at uni and when I was working at Studio Harju a few years ago), that the Diamond bundle was the only one that had them all, and there was no "almost as good" alternative available, as buying them separately from waves' website totals to even larger sum.
You could simplify things by making a buss for maxbass and run a few individual elements through it. Don't put it on the master buss, you will just waste a few months making bad mixes only to eventually find out everything sounds better once you take the maxbass plug off.
Still I think it should be used on individual tracks so you can tailor the plug for each instrument, and chances are it shouldn't really be used on anything unless the instrument wasn't captured correctly. I almost use no plugs now and my mixes sound a lot better than they used to, try taking all you vsts off a current mix and volume match it with a version using all the vsts and decided if the plugs are really helping. Also, you gotta know what your doing to make things sound better, I've been mixing for about 10 years and the longer I do it the more I realise I know jack shit about mixing lol

If you can't get your bass tone grooving in the mix pre-master then you are doing it wrong.
Don't try to remedy things with random plugins that you don't know how to use.
Focus on the basics.
