All,

I'm looking at the WAVES Renaissance Axx plugin *nervously clutches credit card* and I wondered what it was like on rhythm guitars is it 'metal' enough ?

I mean there's plugins for 'Rock' guitars, and then there's metal...

Also, I was wondering about double tracking the bass. I use a five string, and it either sounds too lifeless or too boomy. Never happy enough with it.

Any thoughts on these ?

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge, Renaissance Axx is "only" a compressor/limiter. I guess you were probably thinking it was a guitar amp emulator.

No, you are 100% correct, but the guitars are tracked already, and I was after finding out how much 'punch' the RA might pack on the output buss of SONAR for instance. I'm doing OK with the sound so far, but there's always the quest for more punch/perceived level...

On Waves site, you can download demos of their products (for Windows or Mac). As a part of the Musicians Bundle, Renaissance Axx is available for download. Go to the download section of the site www.waves.com and fill in the form (anything works...), then let us know what you thought of this plugin =)
