Weird Metal Bands

Only oldweird is trueweird

Absolute Zero, tech thrash-y metal with the most fucked up metal arrangements of the 80s, Watchtower meets The Accused is how I like to describe them

Spectral Incursion, weird prog metal that doesn't sound particularly like anyone, with unusually good lyrics too

Arpia, the kvltest of Italian psych-doom

Dwarr, quintessential outsider metal

Holocaust post-NWOBHM, they took a lot of Killing Joke and Voivod influence in and made some odd proggy metal

Threshold, they're kinda shit but it's thrash with moaned vocals, chilly harmonized guitars, and flange effects out the ass that gives it a unique sound

Deliverance, speed/black metal right on the border between comical and spooky, sounds like something a plunderphonics artist would create today in parody of 80s metal, amazing atmosphere

Living Death, underappreciated 80s geniuses, they had a huge breadth of riffing styles and very inaccessible songs and vocals

Mekong Delta, Living Death's nerdy educated twin brother that listens to Mussorgsky habitually

I think Spectral Incursion and Holocaust were my favorite out of these! Especially Holocaust. I love that fuzzed out dissonance-influence from Killing Joke (my favorite Post-Punk band ever.)

The Lost Archives Of Channeling Expeditions Through The Cosmos badly needs a reissue, people are selling it for extortionist prices.

Oh! Here are some more weird bands.

Cornbugs (One of Buckethead's bands with actor Bill Moseley on vocals. Its just weird by default)

7.5 Tonnes of Beard (Guitarless Sludge Metal that incorporates Beatdown hardcore elements. Reminds me of Iron Monkey with nothing but breakdowns)

Unorthodox (Doom Metal that takes elements from Thrash and Progressive Metal. Underdogs of the Maryland Doom Metal scene.)
