We're back...

I bet they were working on a cover an Opeth tribute album. ;)

We'd have no issue with recording a song for a tribute CD... As long it was for a band that actually influenced us, or was a great inspiration to the band. I'd love to be a part of an early 90's death metal tribute... We'd play something from Pestilence or Grave... Hell, even Bolt Thrower or Entombed... Something like that.

I liked some old Godflesh stuff, "Streetcleaner" era, but they were never an influence on me. I've never really heard of Paul or Steve mentioning it as an influence for them either though I'm sure they'd heard it back then. The roots of this band are definitely more rooted in Grave, Asphyx, Entombed, Bolt Thrower, etc.

Maybe someday we'll record a cover tune, for a tribute or whatever, but it certainly won't be for an Opeth one. Nothing against the band as I do like them, but as I've said a thousand times, they're not an influence, and I'd only want to cover a band who I could say were an influence on me. I think we'd sound good doing an old Entombed song or something like that.

Either that or overdubs for the live DVD. :)

who knows... if they do it at all, i don't think they will do a lot though

i think they will at least re-amp the whole thing. and i guess they'll do some sound replacing for the drums, i saw triggers on all toms so that shouldn't be too hard :) then again they could just be for foh mix as well. it's hard to judge how good the recording could be before the foh mix. standing in the audience, it sounded a bit muddy in the bottom end, especially during double bass parts.

then again i don't think paul would be teasing us about this, so it must be something else :)

With regards to the audio for the DVD...

It's very very very rare that a band releases a live album or video these days and do not have to do some touch-up work in the studio afterwards. Obviously the audio has to be properly remixed, as the live mix at the show isn't the same as what goes onto disc. Sometimes you get bad/faulty microphones on the amps or drums and things have to be re-amped, etc. If a string breaks, I mean honestly, who the fuck wants to hear the nasty TWANG!!!!! that the string makes when that happens on a recording that's being professionally released? lol But in case people are wondering, or worrying....no, this will not be a live recording where the music is not actually "live" and all just re-recorded in the studio later. We'll take the actual live recording, mix it and master it, maybe some reamping like Antzor said.....I was really dissatisfied with the guitar sound I had at the show, I was borrowing someone else's gear and I would prefer to have my own amp guitar sound. So with the beauty of modern recording, we can possibly send my recorded guitar tracks from the gig into my amp and get the true Novembers Doom guitar tone. So the performance you hear is the exact same one that was done on that night at Biebob, but remixed with a different guitar sound, that's all.

Antzor, you're very observant! It was a bit muddy through FOH at Biebob, we were just discussing this the other day. Chris will be able to fix that in the mixing process though, so the sound will be nice and professionally clear, but still heavy!

And while I can't give anything away.......no, the studio work this week wasn't involving the DVD audio. It's something else entirely. Hopefully Paul isn't getting everyone's hopes up so high that when they find out they're let down hahaha But I think most will be pleased ;)

Hahaha, yeah, seriously... Don't get TOO excited about this. It is something for the fans, not just demos, and will be available soon. It's not a huge deal, just something we thought would be cool to do.
