I don't rip any of my cds, I think that is stupid, you can just listen to the cd at higher quality. I have alot of downloaded mp3s, however.

You can rip mp3's at audio quality blitzy.

The point is, less wear and tear on your cd. The less you use your cd's the less damage gets done to them

I've got a big hard drive. I've got a rather loud CD drive, so it means that I can listen to them without the CD buzzing in my ear. My CD collection is in the other room, so I don't have to keep going back and forth. I can queue up hours of music without having to keep swapping CDs. When I swap CDs it breaks my concentrations (assuming I'm doing something that required my concentration). It reduces the wear on the CD, and I'm not going to get it scratched or scuffed up. It's also more portable, so I can stick a few albums on my USB drive and stick in in my pocket so I can listen to them at work.

But what about the covers? WHEN DO YOU LOOK AT THE COOL COVERS? Its people like you that will lead to us getting a white piece of paper with the artists name on the front when we buy cds

I understand if you are putting them on a laptop, or a portable mp3 player or something, but otherwise I think it is stupid. CDs will never wear out if you treat them properly. As for concentrating, you can't be concentrating too hard if you are listening to music at the same time.

You are saying you can't concentrate with music on? Yet you openly call certain bands "good background music".

Another thing, why do you raise a point, then when someone calls you on it, say "well thats not the point". If it's not the point, why did you raise it?

I didn't say it wasn't the point, I said it wasn't my MAIN point. I raised it to support what I was saying, when it actually wasn't what I was saying.

When I refer to something as background music I don't mean it is something you will put on in the background when working on an important project, I mean it is something you can put on in the background while you cook or have a shower or sleep or play video games etc.

I didn't say I couldn't, I was trying to say that taking 15 seconds to change a cd won't do any more to break your concentration than having the music playing in the first place.

it will though, because you have to stop what you are doing to change the cd, for 15 seconds, your concentration is broken.

thats different though, if you are working on the pc, you have to overt your eyes away from the pc, in order the change the cd.
