What are your favortie bands that ended prematurely???

Ya know... which bands either broke up too soon or otherwise left the scene too quickly?

Mine are....
  • Living Colour
  • Soundgarden
  • Extreme
  • David Lee Roth (with Vai and Sheehan)
  • Galactic Cowboys
  • Journey

Well, that's just right off of the top of my head. I'm sure to think of more as soon as I hit the "Submit New thread" button. ;)

  • Living Colour <--Agreed
  • Soundgarden <--Agreed
  • Extreme <--Agreed. Though their last album was shaky.
  • David Lee Roth (with Vai and Sheehan) <--Hells yes I agree!
  • Galactic Cowboys <--Never heard em.
  • Journey <--Hmm..Disagree

Its not that I dislike Journey..they are ok. But I don't think they broke up too soon/left the scene too quickly.

My list.

Rhandy Rhoads.
Stevie Ray.

oops..time for bed.

I liked Journey and living ...is it color, or colour?...I forget how they spelled it. I think living color had something special, I think they could have become huge if they wouldn't have given up.
I think Steve Perry's voice was going before Journey called it quits for a while, but they made some great music. Neal Schon is a great guitarist.

Soundgarden was just starting to hit their prime, IMO. Who knows how much more they could've done together.

Alice in Chains, drugs...who knows, I think they had something special too.

Some others I can think of that I thought were good bands...

Death Angel, they had an accident on tour I believe and I think that was what caused their breakup after three albums. They were really young, and really talented.
Exodus, they were really good at one time music wise. Vocally they always left a lot to be desired IMO, but they could tear it up.

Um...That's all I can think of right now.

Ok, I better run after I post these ....

Poison: Ducking....whoo that was a close one....I think they wrote some kick ass simple straightforward commercial rock-n-roll.

Faster Pussycat.....waving the white flag....it's just rock-n-roll.....ok
I'll stop....but they wrote some cool really, simple, heavy on the simple rock-n-roll.
Ok, one more....There was a band called Vain. They did one album that was pretty much recorded live in the studio, decent commercial rock....who knows what happened to them...
Ok, I'm through.

Hyde:

I agree with you on Alice in Chains..but are they still not around? Is it officially over? Thats too bad if so.

..and Its Living Colour.

...and Poison is still around...or still trying to be around. I would hardly say they ended prematurely.

FASTER PUSSYCAT?!?!?!??!?

Alice in Chains hasn't officially ended but I've read interviews with Jerry Cantrell where he basically admits that he's doing solo stuff because the band isn't really working together....and It's got something to do with the singer being on drugs.

Poison pretty much killed their sound when they kicked CC out.
Every critic always shreds him for one reason or another, but
he wrote good catchy songs. They made a couple of albums without him, and then called it quits....and now they seem to be working together again.

Faster Pussycat...hmm...I'm not sure if you are laughing at the name or their music??? They claim they got the name from a porno.....They did have some good rock-n-roll songs.

I just thought of a couple more....
What happened to Y&T...I liked some of their heavy songs.
Night Ranger is another band that wrote some good stuff....and I don't mean Sister Christian... You can still rock in America etc...Great guitar work on a lot of their stuff.

Oh yea..Night Ranger was awesome until they started writing songs like 'Sister Christian'.

...which reminds me... Damn Yankees ended way too fast.

I was laughing at Faster Pussycat the band. Even you admitted to raising the white flag before mentioning that one!

Cliff Burton....The best ????.....If the solo thing with the harmonies on Orion was all him that was some really cool work there but what other stuff did he do that really stands out? (an honest question, not a criticism of your opinion:) )

Randy Rhoads - May never have heard him if it weren't for Ozzy!
I wish they could've done more together. I Love old Sabbath, and I liked some of Jakes work with Ozzy....He and Zack wrote a lot of good stuff together....Maybe he shouldn't have started persuing other guitarists and continued what he had with Zack.
So I don't agree that Ozzy is nothing without him.
Still....the music he did with Randy....It is some of my favorite music of all time....In addition to the great guitar work on those albums, I also consider the bass playing to be good, the drumming to be extremely good, and Ozzy wasn't too bad either.
;)
Just some of my thoughts on the subject...I'm not saying your opinions are wrong.
